Amazon US currently has "Cain" by José Saramago for $3.06 (here). It's $10 or more at Amazon CA, B&N and Kobo. I don't know how to check Amazon UK prices from the US.

For those who can't be arsed to check, Cain is not included in The Collected Novels of Jose Saramago, which was also posted in this forum at a jaw-dropping discount. Sadly, said discount is no longer in effect).

Buy Cain cheaply while you can.

Anyway, I bought the early version of the collection, and 'Cain' is included.

Incredibly, I didn't have The Collected Novels of Jose Saramago to check on my PRS-350 yesterday, so I had to look at the ToC elsewhere -- this product page, for example. I'll be rectifying that omission later today.

The novel which kept popping in and out of various Kindle versions was not Cain. That book was titled All the Names.

Looking at the ToC of my Kindle edition of The Collected Novels of Jose Saramago, I can see that Cain is definitely not included. Are you perhaps thinking of the The Cave, which is?

OK, I checked my edition: It was exactly as you said - 'Cain' is NOT included in this omnibus edition.

Right. Cain wasn't published in the U.S. until after The Collected Novels was released, so it's not included in the omnibus. Nor, for the same reason, are two early Saramago novels, Manual of Painting and Calligraphy and Raised from the Ground.

Oh, I'm familiar with their site. For reasons I've never quite understood it's often much cheaper to buy region-free Blu-Rays from them, shipped to the US, than to order the same title from Amazon US with free shipping.

I just don't know how to check ebook prices there. It tells me the content isn't available to me and doesn't show a price.

If you sign out of your Amazon UK account via the link at the bottom of the dropdown menu under "Your Account" at the top right of the page, you'll be able to check UK e-book prices, because the site will no longer regard you as a US customer. Then you just sign in again when you need to place an order.
