This is getting old.

I was wondering about that. I tried comparing the sample to the book I already had in Calibre to see if was just renamed. There are obvious changes in the text so I tried redownloading it, I still got the old version.

So tech support has to push the new version?

Yes I've been having to contact them several times this past month because of this on several other updated books that do no appear on the update page in MYK. I've started a thread in the Kindle Forum asking anyone else with this problem.

When you do make sure you have the order number, the original name and the new name because they wont be able to find the new name on their end and the order number must match the new book as well as the old book.

You would think if the content is changed we would be able to upgrade automatically through MYK page but nope.

Complain (loudly) to the author. It's entirely their fault that existing customers don't get an upgrade option, as it is a checkbox on the KDP screen when they upload a new version. They can deny updates, allow updates or push updates. The only reason I can see that they deny updates is they are worried that Amazon might charge them for the bandwidth (and I have no idea if Amazon does, since I thought it was a fixed percentage per sale based on file size, one time).

What am I missing?!?

I want to buy a Kobo eGift card, something I've done many times. So I go to the eGift screen on Kobo's website and I'm only seeing links to Redeem a Gift Card or to Buy gift cards in store. Am I missing something? Or has Kobo stopped selling gift cards on the website? Weird.

Okay So it's the uploader's fault then. Once they upload it can they still push the updates? Do you know?

I emailed them yesterday about this issue. What I got back is:

Kobo seem to have forgotten that not all countries have a Kobo retailer. I like Kobo but am. not paying for plane tickets just to buy egiftcards.

Another different note [I'm all over the place today!], don't you hate it when you buy a book immediately upon release because you're so convinced you're going to love it, and then you don't! And then, you start reading a book that you really don't have any expectations for and you really enjoy it a surprising amount? Well, I have one to recommend that I was just completely charmed by. I got it at Kobo with coupon, but as soon as I was done I immediately bought the 2nd and am reading it now. I can't explain really why, but I just thoroughly enjoyed her writing. Anyways, it's 'Falling Into You' by Lauren Abrams if you want to check it out.

They need to change the name. They are no longer egift cards. If you can't buy online then they are just gift cards period. a egift is something that is given through email. Always has been.

I would open a thread in the Kobo Forum about this. Kobo's people frequent that place. Maybe if they see enough complaints they'll will fix this.
