Love Slave by Mallory Rush
(Outlaws and Heroes, Book 1)
Harlequin Temptation 1993
Book Two is only 99 cents.
Note: I don't think they are really part of a series just a marketing trick.

Original Blurb:
Quote:

WHITE SLAVERY

The world believed the white slave trade was a relic of the past, but Rand Slick knew better. And he had very personal reasons for wanting to infiltrate the dark business. But not even a man of his wealth and power could enter the slave bazaar without help - the help of a very special woman . . .

Being auctioned off as a millionaire's plaything was the most dangerous assignment of private detective Rachel Tinsdale's career. But perhaps her shadowy client was the true danger. Night after night, she ached to share his secrets - and show him the joys to be found in the arms of a woman who was no man's slave . . .

Has anybody here read 'Undeniable' by Madeline Sheehan?
The 2nd book 'Unbeautifully' shot up the bestseller list and was just curious.
It sounds like it's one of those 'love or hate' books and that it could be pretty graphic but overall has pretty decent ratings.

I have it but I have not read it yet. It depends on how much you're in a mood for a anti hero because the reviews I read say they are not just bad boys they are practically evil. They do bad things without remorse. So read with caution.

Treading Water (Treading Water 1) - Marie Force

Quote:
Love is the last thing on Jack Harrington’s mind when he sets out to meet Andi Walsh’s flight. Recently back to work after spending more than a year tending to his comatose wife, Jack is focused on getting through each day and caring for his three daughters. However, the moment he sets eyes on Andrea Walsh, the interior designer who has come to decorate the hotel his company is building in Newport, Rhode Island, Jack begins to wonder if Andi might be his second chance. After a disastrous marriage, Andi, single mom to a hearing-impaired son, isn’t exactly looking for love, either, but that’s what she finds with Jack. The two embark on a long-distance relationship fraught with challenges as they balance the needs of their children and dueling careers while Jack continues to care for his wife, Clare. Just when Jack thinks his life is once again settled, he is confronted with a new challenge that tests him in ways he never could've imagined, leaving him to wonder if "happily ever after" is in the cards for him.

Yeah it probably makes Remy from REAL look normal. The same blogger who made that book popular raved over this series as well.

Hmm, ok, well I put it on my watch list then and maybe take a chance if I get a good price. It's rated very highly on goodreads.

So is REAL and none of those positive reviews even talk about the abuse in the book. As I was telling Teresa Medeiros on Faceback last week. There is a disturbing trend on Abusive Male Leads(I refuse to call them heroes) in these so called Romance books. It started with 50 Shades and it continues to get even worse. REAL was an eye opener for me on what some women (Mostly young girls) will overlook in a guy as long as he's sooooo hot.

There has always been a bad boy thing in Romance and I love reading Romances with Bad Boys but there is a line where the Bad Boy becomes an Evil Abuser. I think Travis from BD came very close to it but manage to stay on the right side of the line and I felt there was still hope for the guy to learn to control himself. I did not read Walking Disaster because I wanted to keep that Delusion. However It's all fiction so as long as people realize it's not okay to be with someone like that in real life then who I am to judge what someone reads but I am still disturb by how popular these books are and all the positive reviews.

Beauty and the Bounty Hunter (Once Upon a Time in the West 1) by Lori Austin (aka Lori Handeland) $2.99
Kindle | Nook | Kobo

Quote:
Cathleen Chase is no killer—but as Cat O'Banyon, she is a ruthless bounty hunter who always gets her man. Catching one lowlife after another, she continues her search for the only man she really cares to locate. The one whose voice she will never forget; the man who murdered her husband. She'll stop at nothing to find him.

Con artist Alexi Romanov taught Cat every trick she knows. He is a master of deceit, disguise, and desire. He's difficult to trust, and even more difficult to resist, but he has news she can't ignore. The man she's after has placed a bounty on her head. To get him before he gets her, she'll have to team up with Alexi again...and just like before, the two of them together are nothing but trouble.

For me REAL wasn't really abusive, it was the bad portrayal of his 'issue', and how much she just lusted after his body like a piece of meat. I didn't really get the 'love story' I'd thought it would be.

Overall I agree with you on how they're clumping 'bad boys' in with abusers, there's a huge difference. IMO a 'bad boy' is someone who's made mistakes or poor choices, abuse is an entirely different matter.

She's an Autobuy for me every since she gave us all her old books for free during RAEW that year, I buy everything of hers specially her westerns. Her newest one will be out soon which is why I think this one is on sale. I paid full price for mine. Something I rarely do but I like the author.
