Can people lay off the margins for a bit? We know that you don't like them, and it's drowning out the comments on other bugs and features in 2.5.2.

That was a great disappointment for me with the Aura, I wanted to see my covers full screen in lovely high resolution. Instead, I have to uncheck that option to avoid the *Sleeping* tile box. Last edited by graycyn; 05-10-2013 at 08:01 PM. Reason: Removed ", replaced with asterisk |

I just don't see the benefit of taking away options from users when everyone keeps asking for more options, not less. Quote:
And in a product that is aimed and marketed towards the "advanced" user and that comes with a (somewhat) customizable home screen less options is not a good idea. That's my opinion. You are entitled to your own, of course. Quote:
Of course I will be able to live with it. It just doesn't make sense to me to take that possibility away. Quote:
I don't dislike Kobo or I wouldn't have bought the Aura after having been very happy with my Touch. And of course I don't dislike my Aura just because I can't dismiss that one tile (for now... who knows what will be going on in the future... more tiles you can't dismiss... or maybe you'll be able to dismiss sync again in a future update...). I will surely not sell or return my Aura just because of one tile on the homescreen I don't want or need. But how could I have known that the sync tile would be irremovable in a future firmware when buying the Aura? Again: it's stupid IMHO, but nothing I can not live with. I am living with the loss of the "shortlist hearts" and shortlist on the home screen of my Touch and many things more that have been taken away or added in places I never wanted them to be (like the wishlist on the homescreen). Funny thing is that I've always said "oh, I can deal with that", "ah, no problem", "no reason not to buy a Kobo" (if someone asked me) - and now there's one thing I complain about and am told off because of that. ![]() |

You know, I might could live with the title thing, *IF* the update gave me something I truly *wanted*, like pinch/zoom for images in epub. Or the ability to make font sizes larger on the menus and keyboard. But as it doesn't give me anything useful, and takes away screen real estate that *is* useful to me, I can't be in favor of it. Please, Kobo, make this kind of thing optional! People buy a larger screen reader to GAIN extra screen real estate. Forcing them to lose it again, especially AFTER they've bought it and with no choice to refuse an update is not nice to your customers!

![]() Users have been complaining for months about the bar on the Touch and now Kobo added that even larger box to the Aura (and in a worse place IMHO). But I like the translucency of the "sleeping" box. Still I have unchecked "full screen" since I don't really like where that box is placed. And the white or black border around the cover is kind of nice since I can see wether the device is sleeping or powered off at a glance - easier than with just a differently colored box. ![]() |

Except that Kobo forces the firmware update in us, if we connect through the Desktop. No choice about it, it will update the firmware.

My only objection to what is happening in this thread is to the angry, bullying and petulant tone of some of the posts. Kobo has, numerous times, made changes based on feedback on MR.
I think it is altogether possible for people to clearly state what they don't like and why without being insulting. Stick a fork in me ; I'm done. |

I think the strong objections (I don't think I'd go so far as to say bullying though) are probably because there has already been a lot of feedback prior to this update that most everyone doesn't like the width of the bottom bar, it takes up too much space reducing the reading area; and most everyone also does not want to see a title on top of every page for the same reason.
Kobo clearly ignored the input and went ahead and took away even more reading space by forcing the title to show on every page. And I can't blame them, I also hate losing more reading space and having no way to turn off the space-wasters. |

Are widows and orphans still an issue with this update? I'm assuming yes.
