Issue with text
Hi when reading on my glow I notice that some lines of text are fainter that others, some lines are really bold. When I turn the page then fainter text will be in other locations, so its not a screen issue.
Is this just a limitation of the technology ? I have my font very small. |

I've seen someone report this on this forum before. Unfortunately I can't remember what the rest of the thread was (whether it had a solution or not). You might find the thread by searching the forum. I'll add the link if I find it later.
It's not a limitation of eInk. I've never seen it on my Kobo Touch and I only very rarely come across just a few fainter words on my Glo. Have you tried using a different font? |

no not tried another font. I am still reading the mobi that I brought across from the kindle I replaced, so maybe thats the issue. Will look at sticking an epub on it.

I think the Glo does not officially support mobi any more (the Touch used to), but it does often work anyway. I don't think that's the cause of the faint font though.

it may just be the lighting. its just annoying at times. I think I am looking for issues whilst I can still return to the store.

Yeah, my minds still not made up between the kobo or another Kindle, I did swap my Kindle keyboard for the paperwhite, but after reading loads of bad things about the screen, I finally braved it and opened the kindle to find some bright dots on the screen. Thats when I decided to try the Glo, which I like, but noticing a few quirks such as battery going really well, had 31% left then next day it would not turn on as it needed charging :-(.

And your text problem: that thread I linked to seems to think it has to do with ghosting, and the thinner/lighter the font is that you're using to read, the worse the problem gets. You could: - try a different font - change the font settings (make the font thicker in the font's advanced menu) - set the screen refresh to a lower number. It's set to refresh every 6 page turns, set it to 3 or so (or try them all), should help |

For me a more frequent screen refresh fixed this issue.

How do you change the refresh setting on the Kindle PW by 3 of turns? I only see a toggle switch for refresh every page turn on/off?
