Application launcher works fine, when you start it using the picture. Which is actually pretty nice in combination with the new frontpage, as it is easy to keep the launcher icon on the screen.
thanks - nice to see that the launcher works, sergey has an improved notepad, but I'm sure you've seen that already. Hope the Tweaks works, too!

I'm hoping to buy either a Glo or Aura in late summer when I can have someone carry it over to me in Asia. Since I can't physically get hold of a book here to test, I have a few questions for you lucky first owners.

1. Since I developed tendonitis in my elbows 10 years ago from holding too many heavy books, I no longer physically hold books when reading. I use a stand (this particular one is called Bookchair). Would the Aura's sculpted back work on a stand? In some pictures it seems to only stick out a couple millimeters, but in others, it looks like half an inch.

2. Does it lie flat in a (non-Kobo) case for transport?

3. Any impressions on whether the screen is really sturdier than other e-readers? My Sony 650 screen somehow broke without even being dropped or mistreated in any known way.

4. Any idea how limited this "limited edition" will be? I'd like to wait until at least mid-summer to buy so the warranty isn't wasted while it's sitting unused until it can be transported to me.

Looking at the bottom edge where the USB and uSD card plug in, the narrowest part at the corners is 7.5mm, the two thickest spots are 12mm and the narrow point in the middle is 10.5mm. The top measurements are much the same except the narrow point is not in the center of the top but offset to the right edge. I have a small stand I've used for years to hold various devices and the Aura works quite well in it. After holding the Aura in my hand for a few hours, I find it quite comfortable to hold one handed when I am laying in bed.

I'm using an old case for carting mine around to give some screen protection and once in the case, the back is not really noticeable. I don't leave it in the case for reading.

I would love to know the answer to that as well. Looking at eInk's site, they also claim their newer screens are more damage resistant. For some reason, I don't plan on dropping my Aura on a cement floor to see how it does.

From what I've read, eInk will sell that screen to anyone who want to buy their minimum quantities. Given the interest in the Aura, I suspect Kobo will be making more when or if their initial production run sells out.

Regards,
David

I know someone on one of these threads (can't find it now) mentioned using a Zagg InvisibleShield full body protector to give the back of this thing a better grip. Anyone tried this yet? Which Zagg should I get you think? I'm guessing the iPad Zagg could be trimmed down to an appropriate size.

That'd be me. I'm using a BlackBerry Playbook InvisibleShield as it was on clearance, but you could use an iPad Mini back. It's nice and rubbery, and makes a hell of a difference.

The Home page looks pretty funny when everything but the current book has been Dismissed...

This is such a minor thing, but it looks like in none of the book or home screens does the Aura HD display the current time. I'm coming from a Kindle which does and it's very handy to have.

You can get a brief time display at top centre by tapping the screen, when in a standard epub book. I don't know whether it's the same for kepubs.

On a Touch when you click the bottom center of the screen in an ePub, the top title display changes temporarily to the time.

^^ Yes, that still works to display the time on the Aura with firmware 2.5.1.

Thank you Mikeyboards for your reply....yes, I had no trouble downloading using ADE with my kobo mini. ADE is what my library uses for their e-book downloads. I have the latest ADE update, so I was wondering if something was up with my aura. I was thinking of doing a paperclip reset and see what happens. Not using an SD card... just direct ADE to kobo....

Does anyone know if it is possible to add an annotation that goes beyond one page? On the kindle PW you could just leave your finger on the right hand side of the screen and it would turn the page continuing the annotation. Can't find a way to do that on the aura. Any luck with that anyone else?
