Newbie here

Hello, all. New to the forum and also new to the world of ebooks. One of my favorite recreational activities is backpacking. In the past, it was not uncommon for me to lug along four or five books on a multi-day backpacking trip. It seems illogical to me to carry five paperbacks weighing a total of three or four pounds when I can carry hundreds of books weighing under ten ounces.

Anyways, this looks like a great forum with lots of information for me to soak up before I make the decision on which ebook to buy. Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

Welcome!

I think I remember seeing a couple of threads related to camping with an ebook reader. You might try a search to see if there are any helpful hints.

Hi Haiwee and welcome to the Forum. I think Medge makes what they call a Leisure Cover for the Kindle that is padded and keep your reader safe in the backpack. I've got the Leisure Cover for my Sony 505 and like it fine. It completely encloses the book and has a clear plastic cover so you can read while leaving the cover zipped up.
