Could you just amend how the books are saved in preferences?

For instance, I save as either

{Author}/{Title} for standalone books

or

{Authors}/{series_index:>02s}{Title} for books in series

I'm pretty sure the series_index won't show if the book isn't in a series, so you could use something like this for all books:

{author_sort}/{series:0>2s| [| }{series_index:0>2s| |] } - {title}

The save template has no affect on any display option on the Kobo devices. The sorting is based on the metadata fields such as title and author, plus size and type.

For now, I solved the problem by starting the securities by the date of publication. eg in shelves "Stephen King" list "(2012) - 22/11/63" ; (2011) - "Dome" set Volume 1 ; (2011) - "Dome" Set Volume 2 ; Etc. ... Made with Calibre with information for each book the exact date of publication of books. The sorts by name in the KOBO Glo sort by date without error firmware 2.5.1.
I also solve the lack of sorts by date of publication, which does not exist, and I need to know the chronology of book by author

I can't see anything wrong with what you are doing. I haven't been using the plugboard lately, so I just configured it and ran a test on my Glo. I sent 22 books for about 5 authors and five series and put them on one shelf. When I opened the shelf and chose different sorts, the sorting worked correctly.

One thing I can think of is when you open the shelf, even if the sort is shown as by author, select it again. Or select a different sort and then change back to author. I have seen some cases where the sorting didn't match what was shown, so this could be it. This seems to always happen the first time you open a new shelf. The sort shown is title, but it seems to be actually sorted by the whatever was last used for a shelf. After selecting a sort for that shelf, it is remember.

If that doesn't fix it:

- Can you take a photo?
- How does it sort in the main book list?
- Can I get a copy of the database from the device? That's a last resort, but I might be able to see what is happening.

The sort is more or less normal. One firmware version would sort by series when you selected sort by title but that bug/feature has disappeared. When sorting by Author, the next sort criteria is Title.

Here's how Author Sort displays with the KOBOTOUCH plugin enabled (KOBOTOUCHEXTENDED plugin disabled). It looks like the sort works correctly and as expected.

Just my own visual personal preference - I like/prefer the rendering of the .kepub sort better, where it's displayed as:

Title (Italics)
Series - Number (Index) (All Caps)
Author (Regular Font)

Although, I don't like the 3 different font styles in the example above

Ok, here's a screen shot after I reverted back to the KOBOTOUCHEXTENDED plugin & the steps I took:

1. Opened Calibre & disabled KOBOTOUCH plugin.
2. Closed & quit Calibre.
3. Restarted Calibre.
4. Enabled KOBOTOUCHEXTENDED plugin.
5. Closed & quit Calibre.
6. Restarted Calibre.
7. Connected Kobo Aura to PC.
8. Deleted test books from Aura.
9. Ejected Kobo from Calibre & disconnected USB cable from PC.
10. Reconnected Aura to PC.
11. Sideloaded test books back to Aura.
12. Ejected Kobo from Calibre & disconnected USB cable from PC.
13. Kobo Aura processes content.
14. I did a paperclip reset.

Here's what I got (see picture). Sure wish I knew what the trick was!

The books there are sorted by AUTHOR. Tap the word AUTHOR and select TITLE.

I'm with PeterT, I can't see a problem with any of those sorts.

At the top of the list it says "Sort: Author". All the screen shots show books that are sorted by author (using "Lastname, Firstname") and then sorted within that by title. Using those rules, I can't see that any of them are out of place.

If you want a different sort sequence, press the word "Author" and select one of the other options.

Same results/display as the Author sort, just as expected. The entie Kobo library is sorted by Title, with this particular series in chronological order. It appears that the issue is now "fixed". I now need to reload my Kobo to correct the remaining series sorts.

I've been using Calibre to manage the ebooks on my laptop and to do the first pass at conversions to epub format. I don't use Calibre to manage the ebooks on my Kobo. Just a personal preference to use Sigil to edit the ebooks for a more or less standardized look and manually copy them over. I found that Calibre was not able to do some of the modifications I wanted and so I ended up using Sigil to modify the ebooks after running them through Calibre.

What you have in this picture is what I want. I managed to get the KOBOTOUCHEXTENDED working to side load kepubs. However, series didn't go, and the auto bookshelf didn't work.

How I get the series name to display below? And get the Aura to auto create shelves?
