I like the sleep cover. Makes the Aura feel more like a book, and I don't have to mess with the on-off slider. Just close the cover like I would with a book. Perfect. Kobo did a nice job with this cover.

If anyone is looking for a more regular style cover, search Amazon, Navitech is making covers for the Aura HD. Black, blue, brown, purple, pink if I remember rightly. They are very reasonable.

So it does! I only read the titles that stated black. Finding 500 people who want the cover would be hard though. 50 might be worth taking a risk and listing on eBay but not 500.

I looked at one of the ultra-thin covers at my local Chapters store. The back is a plastic that is no more grippy then the device itself. It is molded to the back of the Aura. I have a sleep cover for the Glo. I bend it back to read with it on the device. If you do the same thing with the Aura, you lose the unique shape of the back, and (IMO) it just seems awkward. If you don't bend it back, you are stuck reading it with two hands.

Kobo Aura HD cover

I just got a Kobo Aura HD and book cover. The cover (advertised on Kobo) isn't great. It is expensive, but feels cheap and the black plastic backing is slippery and loves fingerprints. I'm considerably less than impressed. For a company that prided itself on a quilted back, I don't know why their premium edition uses a backing that is so poor in quality and design. What were they thinking?

I also have the sleep cover, and while it fits the device well, and looks nice enough, I agree, the plastic back feels cheap and is a bit more slippery than I'd like. However, fingerprints are easy enough to clean off it, though that's one more chore if you hate fingerprints.

I'd love to see something like the very thin material Sony uses on the back of my T1 lighted cover on my Kobo cover.

Further issues with the sleep cover ... at the bottom, the cradle edge is crisp and sharp! Makes holding the device in cover at the bottom uncomfortable fairly quickly as it bites into my hand. The cradle on my Sony T1 cover has nicely rounded edges.

I find that holding the Kobo Aura in sleepcover like a book is fairly comfortable. Folding the front flap underneath and holding right-handed is passably comfortable, though I usually have two fingers on the plastic back and two fingers on the inner surface of the front flap for grip.

Holding the Aura with the front flap underneath left-handed feels quite awkward.

Another minus in comparison to my Sony T1 lighted cover, when I fold the front flap underneath the reader, and lay it down on my mattress to read while I am laying on my side in bed, the Sony slants invitingly towards my eyes. The Aura HD in sleep cover does just the opposite!

My opinion is that Kobo fell short on the *luxury* of this cover and it is overpriced. I do like the feel of the naked device in my hand and may search out some kind of leather sleeve for it. Or possibly have one made.

What I'd love to see is very easy:

* very thin plastic material in the back (as the paperwhite cover),
* just as big as the reader itself, clicks in place (as the paperwhite cover),
* textile or plastic front cover (as the paperwhite cover),
* closes with little magnet, not a flap (as the paperwhite cover).

How difficult would it be to make such a cover?

I would just add one more thing - the price to be £10-12 also like the PW cover.

Has anyone seen a real world weight reported by someone who owns one of the Kobo covers? I've seen some people reporting it still seems fairly heavy and the are the earlier reports from a site of it possibly being 180g but I don't think I've seen a measured weight.

Cheers

I just ordered one via Amazon. It might take a month to ship though.

I weighed the official Kobo Aura sleepcover at 104g.
