Could you try an experiment... Revert to the stock Touch driver and fry that with a book in a series that is not yet loon the device.

I tried your test above, using the same parameters you used wrt the save template, as well as disabling the KOBOTOUCHEXTENDED plugin and enabling the KOBOTOUCH plugin.

Results:

Now the interesting part - the file shows up on the Kobo as a Kobo ePub instead of a regular ePub!

I will do another test with books by an author with both standalone and series books and report back...

Even with the Kobo sort set to Author, books by the same author are still sorting by Title, thus still breaking up series.

The 2 epubs I sideloaded are now showing up as epubs, not kepubs.

One idea... Did you restart calibre after switching drivers (ie after the enable / disable sequence)? I think if you miss that step it keeps using whatever driver was already active.

I can't see anything wrong with what you are doing. I haven't been using the plugboard lately, so I just configured it and ran a test on my Glo. I sent 22 books for about 5 authors and five series and put them on one shelf. When I opened the shelf and chose different sorts, the sorting worked correctly.

One thing I can think of is when you open the shelf, even if the sort is shown as by author, select it again. Or select a different sort and then change back to author. I have seen some cases where the sorting didn't match what was shown, so this could be it. This seems to always happen the first time you open a new shelf. The sort shown is title, but it seems to be actually sorted by the whatever was last used for a shelf. After selecting a sort for that shelf, it is remember.

If that doesn't fix it:

- Can you take a photo?
- How does it sort in the main book list?
- Can I get a copy of the database from the device? That's a last resort, but I might be able to see what is happening.

Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree, but I assume you've deleted the books from the Kobo between attempts with Calibre? At one point it seems like you were saying you'd gotten the files transferred as SERIES - INDEX - Title in the Title field, but the Kobo still wouldn't sort them that way? That would seem to be a Kobo problem? Have you tried power cycling the Kobo after the transfers or setting the Shelf to display by Author or Title?
