Before you do it try to charge it on USB socket of your PC (not wall charger) for 24 hours. Very often it helps to reanimate the battery.

Just got a message - the trick cured the battery in a similar case

OK. I have plugged into a USB socket on my laptop. It's 7:41 pm here.

UPDATE. 25+ hours later. No change. Frozen completely solid, just like it was before.

Booxtor, I will send an email to the store. I'd just as soon not bore anyone here with this any further.
