I have to admit it's tempting. Not so much for the front light (I'm not a convert yet to the need), but for the increased contrast. The text on my 950 is good enough, but it's still gray on gray. However, I've fortunately acknowledged that it would be foolhardy to jump on this, absent a sudden death in my Sony family. I can wait on reports and developments by the competition. I have mixed feelings about Kobo. Since most of my purchases come from them, it would be handy to have a dedicated device, but the perennial bugginess is a turnoff. That said, I am so very glad they decided to go in for the smaller/bigger market. To me, 6" was exactly the wrong size. Too big for my purse, too small for at home. For a while there, I thought they'd be burying me with my 350 and 950; now I'm not nearly so anxious. Last edited by issybird; 04-17-2013 at 11:57 AM. | |

Kobo managed to keep this one off the radar. They have a great device here, they are a step ahead on Amazon and certainly BN who, although first with the glow readers, seems to have lost steam of late.

If Kobo's TypeGenius really is as good as it seems to be, then my next reader may be a Kobo on day. I don't know if I need or want a 6.8" reader; the 6" inch of the Kindle is good enough for me. Not too big to hold for hours on end or to but in a bag, but not so small that you're turning pages like crazy. I really don't like the Kobo Aura's sleep cover with it's magnet jutting out like that at the right side. I like my covers to give me a "book-feel", but if parts are jutting out if it, they won't do that. However, I expect there to be many third party covers. The one thing that strikes me is that his reader seems to be fat.... but luckily there'll be a black version according to the reviewers. Last edited by Katsunami; 04-17-2013 at 12:37 PM. |

My difficulty w/ Kobo readers is finding someone who will sell me one in the States :P I keep hearing that you can order or preorder them online, but the Kobo site just directs me to retailers in Canada.

My mistake: looks like it is available in U.S. for pre-order. The older readers should be available through local independent bookstores in the U.S.
