Hm. Don't we have agentsmembers in Europe? Maybe someone can help you get in touch with her with the directions.

Luckily, by jiggerypockery, we have managed to get in touch - I blame the powers that govern our lives, for making them not as easy as they should....

Imagine, we specifically bought a phone that could handle SMS text messages...
Nothing in the instructions etc pointed out that these phones and this facility only works within the UK.....
Some lame excuse about British Telecom not being able to charge correctly the calls that go abroad...The system is programmed to 'block' all non-UK sends - without providing any error messages to the sender.....

ARRRGH! I sympathize. We wanted sooo much to send a photo of us at the tip top of Gibraltar while were there, but well, it's under British rule and should work as long as we have a signal(strike 1), services stop at the Spanish border (strike 2), there's no customer support of any sort from our home carrier while we were there (strike 3). So we didn't get to call and say, "Hey, look at the pic we just mailed you and guess where we are?"

Ah - but you also saw my dilemma,
I couldn't get in touch with my wife and the advice from the support was - 'tell your wife she needs to change the settings on the 'phone'....
And he repeated this 4 or 5 times, despite what I explained and the relay operator was also explaining on my behalf....

Are we still venting and ranting around here? Because I want to talk about...

The Backorder.

I ordered something 2 weeks ago, and was told it was "in stock, and would be delivered in 14 days. It will probably be only seven but, y'know, they make us say that."

12 days later, they called to say the item was backordered 3 weeks. (Which immediately begs the question: If they didn't know it was backordered, how do they know it'll be there in 3 weeks?)

We called the manufacturer, who had told the store and us 2 weeks ago that, yes, they were in stock. Now, yes, they're backordered from the factory in--where else?--China where they are produced. They will be here in 3 weeks. (Please beg same question as above.)

Here's my thing: Any store, vendor or manufacturer that cannot tell you at the moment you plan to buy whether there is an item in stock for you, at that moment... but leads you to believe it can... is a lying &#*!&$^!*$^%&@!!

Every store, vendor and manufacturer uses the Backorder as an excuse for not knowing what stock they have, and not having the stones to tell you.

Every store, vendor and manufacturer knows this, but they try to convince you they know what stock they have at all times... this makes them liars.

I am so sick of rewarding liars with my business. Why don't I just get a "$" tattoo put on my lower back, right above my butt, and call it my target for the "corporate money shot?"

Just wait, it won't turn up, they'll cancel the order, they won't refund you the money, you'll contact them five times leaving messages and emails they won't return for several days, they'll tell you refunds are not their department so it's not their fault, they'll send you an email saying they're processing the order, they'll finally send it, they won't warn you so you're not home so the courier will miss you, you'll call the courier and they'll say they'll be there the next day, they won't be, you'll call them again and they'll say it'll be five days because they have to get it "from the depot", it'll turn up eventually, it won't have the right plug. Begin again.

Okay, Steve, maybe it's not the same as the above. As you can probably tell though, you have my empathy.

Cheers,
Marc

People with IQs generally lower than the average temperature in the Northwest Territories in mid-Winter. However, they pay them next to nothing, so what can we expect??

Eejits who play music from their mobile phones at top volume on the bus (especially, but probably other public places [enclosed?] too).
It's not as if it's ever even decent music.
I would seriously pay money for a device that could disable them (the phones. Or the eejits. Whatever).
If anyone invents one, let me know.

Disable the eejits?! There are ways to do that without a special device.

To whit: electrons on strike (for those who, like me, have a hard time keeping track of the intertwining threads about here!)

Said device has been around for many thousands of years, it has gone through numerous re-incarnations since its original conception.

It'll be an interesting test of evolutionary theory.
Another few decades of unrestrained free jazz, hip-hop and country music, and we should start to see the emergence of ear-lids - unless Darwin was wrong .
