You can also walk there from Euston, Euston Square or Russell Street stations depending on which line you are coming on.

In the case of Linda, I'd suggest simply walking from either Goodge Street or taking a bus from Warren St/Euston Square.

Don't go from Russell Sq - too tricky to find your way there if you're not familiar with the area. (And there's no such a thing as Russell Street Station )

Definitely worth a try. After all, they claim to have a factory in Southampton. (And I'd be more than happy to carry one from the factory if they were willing. And I'd return it too.)

Still, I can understand why they can't do it.

thanks for mentioning that detail, lazyscot... i suspect there might be some doubt about it in most people's minds...

Given the several articles that have appeared in the UK papers (Telegraph and Daily Mail) of late, would people be happy to throw an open invitation to any journalists in London to come along and chat with people about the devices?

Well, it's fine for me. IMHO more publicity for ebook readers can only be good... hopefully that will mean more published ebooks.

if you can get any to come i think that's a great idea ; after all, as you say, one of the biggest obstacles currently facing ebooks is that people don't know about them.

Well, with the english weather being what it is, I think we might all enjoy a hot coffee (or tea) tomorrow!

I look forward to meeting all of you.

Hope it's not too late to say I'll be there too this afternoon. Don't have an ebook device yet, but once I get a new job, it's hello to a PRS-505.

I think it's double points for Waterstones cardholders this weekend, so I'll be the one weighed down with dead-tree editions

Zelda, you are so right! I've introduced about a half dozen people at work to eBooks who had never heard of them and who now love the idea. Two have happily bought Kindles and one is getting a Sony 505 this weekend.

Truth is, I didn't know about eInk devices till I saw a Sony 500 while I was mindlessly wandering through the MicroCenter computer store back in early 2007; and me a self-respecting geek!

you are not the only one, cassidy ! i remember hearing about one of the very early devices (possibly the first cybook ?) about 10 years ago, in a magazine article. but i never heard more about it so i almost instantly forgot about it again. none of my friends had ever heard of them either. people in cafés who see me reading have never heard of them. the funny thing is, when i explain what a liseuse is for, they're almost always very enthusiastic. the interest is there, we just have to spread the word.

Just back from the UK meet-up which was very enjoyable - Mobilereaders are a very friendly (and knowledgeable) bunch so it was great to meet them and see a wide variety of ebook devices in the flesh and hear about their relative merits from users.

Pictures were taken, which I'm sure will be uploaded in due course, but there were Iliads, Sony readers (500 and 505 versions), a Kindle, a Cybook, plus a couple of devices I'd never seen before. I think one was a Hanlin and the other was an eBookwise 1150.

Feel a lot more informed now; a PRS-505 it is once I've found a new job.

I also remarked that with 72 hours of my buying a PRS-505, it'll be just my luck the a plethora of improved ebook devices will become available, all with higher resolution screens, lower prices and improved durability. But you've got to take the plunge sooner or later - you can't wait forever
