No, it's not possible. You can only change an entire category (eBook, audiobook, music, video).

You would have to change the setting/loan period for that single title, then change it back after checkout.

So right before checking out the book, I would change my default loan period, then check out the book, then set my default loan period back to where I usually have it?

Yes.

Before the Overdrive update, you could change the loan period for a specific ebook while the ebook was in your cart, prior to checkout. Now that there is no cart, you have to change the default instead.

At my library all of the open epub books are public domain books. I imagine they're not returnable since these titles never expire and don't count again my library checkout limit. They're the same as if you downloaded them from Project Gutenberg.

If there's any other type of "open epub" that has a timed period for borrowing, I have yet to run into one of those at my library.
