If you have a gift certificate balance, payment for the book will automatically be taken from that balance.

Pretty sure it defaults to the gift card balance, then starts charging your credit card

Yes, I bought a book about an hour ago via my Kindle and it used the gift card balance.

I use 11 / 12 both in day and night. The exception is in absolute dark rooms, 12 is too much, in these situatios i lower the light to 2.
