e-books added to UK CPI (inflation basket)

From BBC News story today: e-books were one of the consumer goods added to the "basket" of goods tracked to compute inflation in the UK.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-21753044 DVRs, hot chocolate, white rum, blueberries, and chacuterie were also added. Champagne, sink faucets, and something called a freeview box were dropped. So, sit back sipping on rum-laced hot chocolate reading your e-book while your DVR records the TV. I'm not sure how to work in the processed meat & blueberries. |

Not actually ebooks (the story is confusing), but ebook READERS (Kindles, etc).

A Freeview box is a digital terrestial TV decoder. Very popular during the switch-over from analogue to digital TV transmission, but now all TVs have digital receivers build-in, so the need for external decoders has essentially disappeared. |

Yes, indeed. Basically a box for plugging into an analogue TV receiver (whether it be a TV set, video recorder, or whatever) to allow it to receive digital TV transmissions.
