6 days and 4 hours though... that isn't a very long battery life. Have you by any chance noticed any battery drainage during the time you had your Glo in sleep mode between reading sessions?

Edit: see this post, where a HUGE book is being read and almost 30 hours of reading during 15 days and battery is still at 51%...

I think the key message in this post is that we have to consider the activities besides just reading and the number of other hours of reading, not just the number of days elapsed. I've found that the font and margin changes, searches, and returns to the home page for Reading Stats have significant impact on battery life. The charge level drops 1-3% almost every time I do these. Also, 23 hours reading in 6 days is significantly more than the average reader.

No, it doesn't seem like a lot. However the Kobo support page says this:

"What's Kobo Glo's battery life like?
The Kobo Glo battery lasts one month with light on or off. This is based on approximately 30 minutes of reading per day and one page turn per minute. Of course, battery life depends on your individual usage."

That's the equivalent of 15 hours of reading. I was able to read for almost 23 hours before the battery died. Plus I did some syncs and font changes, etc. Didn't count my page turns though!

I'm not being defensive about this. I'd like a longer battery life, but it seems to me that the battery performed at or above specs, which was what I set out to check.

No, I didn't check the battery drainage as I went along. It was complicated enough remembering to note start and end times of reading sessions.

Seems like a stronger battery than mine!

Might the charge-level drops be cancelled out in my case by the desktop syncs, where the battery was being charged during the sync process?

Depends on how long it was connected up for each time and what you were doing. I think USB can typically be counted on for 500ma per hour. So with a 1000maH battery, and two hours+ of time connected even a dead battery would charge fully, in theory.

As far as a stronger battery goes, I tend to read while watching TV, so my pages turns per hour may not be as high as yours, but the LED lighting stays on, and if I notice I haven't been reading for a few minutes I'll throw in a few extra page turns back and forth to simulate. I'm making every effort to maintain a fair, if not perfect, test.

I tend to read in front of the TV to, but the 60 second sleep bug is getting to me. I sit down, wake the Glo while watching the TV, 61 seconds later I look at the screen and it is asleep again. Repeat until the end of the show )

What? I tend to actually read, and really only listen to the TV in the background, sort of like processing an interrupt. If something is interesting I'll look up for a few seconds, but I'm beginning to wonder why I keep a 47" HDTV running considering my usage. Let's be fair, most TV is a wasteland. The really good stuff I watch while surfing so I can concentrate on the show and the net surfing gets done as it gets done. It takes something rather out of the ordinary to interest me for most TV.
