ePub OK in Windows but empty in Kobo

Hi, folks. I created a simple file with Sigil. I can read very well in Windows 7 using CoolRead. But when I transfer to my Kobo Touch (software version 2.3.1 - 07/12/12) the file is empty. Four blank pages. The thumbnail is OK and appears. But when I open the file the cover and text don't. Nothing. Does somebody know why? My Sigil is for Windows 64 bits version 0.6.2. Thanks a lot Roberto PS: I did'nt no no css definition COVER.XHTML Code: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="no"?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title></title> </head> <body> <p> <img alt="eu" src="../Images/eu.jpg" /></p> </body> </html> Quote:

Could you attach the ePub so I can try it? I could construct it from your post, but that doesn't guarantee it will be the same as what you are producing.

Did the epub pass Validation in Sigil? Had you added basic metadata - validation doesn't like it if there is no un ique identifier, eg. Author and Title metadata. |

If there is a single error in the CSS, the ePub will not display properly in ADE (that's what Kobo uses). This is why you should be using ADE for Windows to test your ePub.

I'm wondering if perhaps you have the entire text of the book in a single xhtml file within the epub. If that file is larger than about 300Kb (I think... if someone knows more accurately, please chime in), some readers will choke on it and fail to display the large file. Whereas, PC-based readers generally don't have this limitation. I'm not sure that explains the four blank pages, though. Anyway, if you do have a file larger than 300K, you can split it up easily using Sigil, and see if that helps. |
