How about Orpheus? He was an artsy type, and is known for having conducted an almost perfect (except for one minor detail) search and retrieval operation.

Well acidzebra, here comes yet another naming problem. What is the Java standalone command line client supposed to be named?

however that is an interesting suggestion... then again orpheus was the first great poet (and musician but that's not as relevant) and, bringing us back to a previous suggestion, his son was named Musaeus, which means "of the Muses"... Orpheus is one of my favorite figures from mythology.Quote:

no, more seriously, i think you are right, a name will be easy to remember and will allow us to create a mascot or personality which will also help people to remember and make logo etc. easier.Quote:

and the fact they can turn their head 180° (more ?) is good for a search engine. bookowl could be a good name i think. sadly it is taken. in fact someone seems to have bought up quite a lot of variations on (e)book + owl. however e-book.owl.com is available, so is e-book-owl.comhey now, one name at a time !! |

Have you decided on a name then? If you can't choose, you could put the top contenders in a poll. But once you have a name, simply strip most/all vowels and you have your command; i.e. boobook would become bbk.Brevity is king on the commandline - chances are you will have to type it out a lot. |

What are small owls called? Tawny owl? Then the client could be called Tawny ![]() (This is easier in German .. We have Eulen (owl), Uhus (eagle owl), Käuzchen (tawny or small owl), etc) |

Actually ...with Windows most people wouldnt know how to use the commandline - so they would simply point and click and ignore the name. With *NIX 'double tab' should do the trick in most shells.

bookowl sounds like bookle (I imagine it on a white page with coloured letters and a simple search field...). Without the "e", just in case Gianfranco will extend his engine to p-books sold on line...
