How easy is converting ebooks?
Hi guys,
Been looking around the net for info on the star-e-book, and am just worried about the point of converting books into the native format? Thanks, Simon |

The Starebook uses the Netronix format. Converting to that format is basically impossible. I don't know anyone who has actually done it.

Well, either you figure out how to get the Gen3 firmware to flash ont he the thing or you purchase something else. Sounds like the beast isa bust as far as its native format goes.

I had looked at flashing the gen3 firmware, certainly looks like a good idea!
Just posted on the off chance that someone who had used the software recently could comment. As it looks, I may get the STAReBOOK I'm bidding on (fingers crossed) with the intention of flashing the gen3 firmware as soon as possible! ![]() Cheers, Simon ![]() |

Creating STK books isn't that hard to do. You really do need the original book in plain text format, so you'll need to convert to that first. Also best is to clean up the text as much as possible.
I used the eREAD version 3 app to do the conversions. This is very different to whats available of the web site at the moment. The current eRead version create incompatible STK's which will drive you mad. Best bet is to ignore the lot of them and flash it to the CyBook firmware which actually works very well with many formats. good luck, |
