MOBI -> PDF HOW - TO

Here is a quick How-to (MS Word Doc and Mobi)

You need Mobi 4.2. It looks from your screen shot like you are missing the Adobe PDF Import link.

MobiPocket uses 3rd party software in the backend to do the conversion.

So ...
I'm going to ask a pretty stupid question here but you never know.
Do you have Adobe Reader installed, if so what version?
Do you have Adobe DE installed, what version?

If you don't have Adobe Reader 7/8/9 Installed I would uninstall MobiPocket first. Install Adobe Reader then install MobiPocket.

BTW I have Adobe Reader 7. This is the last version that supports reading secure PDF.

I can't say I know much about anything here, but i discovered quite by accident that if you open a pdf file with mobipocket READER it will convert it to a mobi file and you can move it to a kindle. I was not able to open it with the converter, but I have adobe reader 8 on my laptop.

Yes I have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional and it's interlinked with other programs like Word, but no Mobipocket.

Hm my previous post did not seem to make it.

MobiCreator might be looking for "Adobe Reader" libraries. I would recommended you install Adobe Reader 7 on your system.

Install the adobe reader first. If MobiCreator doesn't detect the new application when you re-run MobiCreator.

Then Re-install MobiCreator

Yes this has been a long thread. Wasn't your original question how to read a PDF on the SONY.

I was suggesting MobiCreator as a way to create a MOBI that easily converts to LRF. So your path would be PDF->MOBI->LRF. If you have a HTML file then you can use Calibre to create the LRF file and forgo using MobiCreate all together.

BTW MobiPocket has really good online help I would recommend checking there website out. Here is the HELP LINK

Mobi download

Hi there, I'm new here, but getting the PRS-500 any day now :-)

I had the same problem in that I downloaded the Mobi software, but had no pdf conversion icon. I discovered that you need to download the professional one, not the basic one. I did it the other day, so this is from memory. But get rid of your original mobi, and redownload it, and go for the advanced or professional one (can't remember how it was worded.)

Good luck
Angie
