If you are an outdoorsman or enjoy that type of thing.
Patrick F McManus has some very funny books filled with short stories. They are from articles he used to write in Field & Stream. Some of the stories would have me crying I would be laughing so hard. |

I laughed so much I got my boyfriend interested enough for him to read it. He did, and he laughed so much he woke me up several times His other book I Suck at Girls I tried and it wasn't funny at all, had to drop it. Last edited by Geralt; 12-21-2012 at 07:32 PM. |

Wodehouse is of course genius...
Douglas Adams died unfortunately after finally creating the perfect character for his writing... Dirk Gently, the Holistic Detective and the follow up, 'The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul'. Lovely funny stuff... "It can hardly be a coincidence that no language on earth has ever produced the expression "As pretty as an airport." Airports are ugly. Some are very ugly. Some attain a degree of ugliness that can only be the result of a special effort. This ugliness arises because airports are full of people who are tired, cross, and have just discovered that their luggage has landed in Murmansk (Murmansk airport is the only exception of this otherwise infallible rule), and architects have on the whole tried to reflect this in their designs." |

Some of Jean Shepherd's short stories are pretty funny. He wrote the short story that the film "A Christmas Story" is based on. There are several compilations.

I have a few favorites.
Patrick McManus
Love Bill Bryson, didn't care for Tina Fey but for sheer hilarity, favorite book from last year was Jenny Lawson's autobiography. http://thebloggess.com/lets-pretend-...y-true-memoir/ |
