PRS-T1 Is there any 'send to reader' or dropbox-type wireless functionality on the T1? - Page 2

Who knows? I was downloading ePubs from GirleBooks and some did fine and some failed repeatedly, although I could download them to my computer just fine.

None of them had DRM.

I was able to download them through Dropbox without trouble. It was weird.

I just bookmarked my ebook folder on m.dropbox.com. It's the easiest solution, as far as I've found.

I haven't tried gmail yet, but I've been able to download an EPUB via webmail through my ISP. If you press and hold on the attachment, then you'll see a pop-up menu with the option to Open (I think, maybe it was download).

The file she send wasn't drm either. But I do use dropbox regularly for other things, now I'll just have to start putting books on it.

I just emailed a PDF with no DRM to my gmail account. I was able to download it to my T1 ok. I touched (press & hold) the download link under the file name in the email to bring up a pop-up menu from which I selected "Open" to initiate the download action.

Like Kate said, it might just be one of these quirky files that have issues. I suggest that you try another file to see if you still can't download anything from gmail.

ok, so dropbox seems fairly simple, and gmail lets me still use calibre to auto send, but both require manual pull. Does calibre have the ability to put files into your local dropbox folder?

I think the biggest draw with the T1 is the built in library access. Could be a killer feature for my son who goes through library books really fast. Just want to make sure I'm not compromising in too many other areas. I realise that the kindle auto delivery is pretty much unique.

I have my entire library in Dropbox. If your library is too big you can use the Connect to folder option and connect to one folder in your Dropbox. When connected, calibre will treat the folder as a device. You can set your fetched news to be automatically sent to your device in this case a folder in Dropbox. You can also send individual books to this folder. The books will show up in the same folder on your T-1 Dropbox folders.

Are you able to load your books from dropbox wirelessly to your 950? My T1 has this ability but I have been unable to get this to work on my mom's prs-950.

Even with PRS+ (needed to download via the browser) I wasn't able to get books from dropbox wirelessly. I think it was because I had too many books and when I went the directory it overloaded the memory available in my 950. I have been successful getting books wirelessly via the calibre content server.

I think you would have to root your T1 to get something like that going. I don't think it has any kind of file receiving service running by default on it. You would also need it to send its address somehow to the 'pusher', as the WiFi address would change as the device roams. Having a Kindle on the cellular network helps in that respect (the phone number stays the same wherever it goes).

I was looking for a convenient way to send web articles to my Sony Reader, and could not find anything that i was happy with.
So i've created a web app for that!
It's called Web Reader. It integrates with Readability, so the infrastructure for sending articles from your browser is already there.
To use it just open reader.webgear.co.nz on your Reader, login to your Readability account and enjoy reading your articles offline!
Registration with Readability is free - plus you get cool add-ons for different browsers (that allow you to Read Later a page, which effectively sends the article to you reading list, which is then accessible from Web Reader).
