Or, they could ship laptops with with eink below transparent keys. How cool would that be!? Not sure if there is something for non jailbroken iPads, Nexus 7s, but I never really looked. |

I just stick to the Estonian layout regardless of the physical keyboard.
Most of the physical keyboards I use have always come with a physical Swedish layout (the closest you can get to ours with the majority of "special" keyboards, i.e. anything with extra keys or buttons - my work requires a LOT of copying and pasting, so I've been using keyboards that have physical single cut, copy and paste buttons on them), but I just don't look at what the right hand side keys are marked as. Same with laptop keyboards - for Western brand name laptops, Swedish physical keyboards are the closest you can get, so again I use those with an Estonian software layout. It's much handier than switching all the time, as I have all the letters and symbols I need regularly within easy reach. I'd think sticking to the software layout of the language you're used to is the best option regardless of what language you actually type in at any specific moment - for languages using more or less the same alphabet, of course. Can't really get by without switching when one needs to switch to a language with a different alphabet (e.g. from Latin to Cyrillic) or a completely different writing system. |

I used to have my keyboard set for Swedish and then use that when typing English, with the exception of Word because the auto-correct would begin to go insane. Unfortunately, under Win 8 that function is now global, so unless I switch keyboard language I get all this red wavy underlining.
