Smart girl! I like that idea...except my glove compartment is already stuffed with all of the electronics (gps, mp3 player, etc) I don't like to leave in plain sight.

Having changed the location of storage of books on my Iliad to the CF card, since the recent purchases of The Chambers Dictionary, 10th Edition and Harrap's Shorter French-English Dictionary (it's early, but both seem quite excellent at this stage) were going to be more than the internal memory could bear, I tried to "sync" Mobipocket with the Iliad last night (some further aside - the Iliad had not been connected to my laptop since the laptop's format-and-reinstall) and was having all kinds of problems. Eventually, when I figured out what I should be doing, it crashed on sync again, and, after spending 10 minutes trying to figure out what was wrong now, I suddenly realised that there was nothing really wrong, other than that the Iliad's battery had emptied halfway through the sync (yeah, I probably should have checked that before starting, hey? ).

So, what am I about to do? Sync my Iliad. All this is Proust preparation, but that's a whole other topic.

After that, I'm showering (see webcam), then going shopping for furniture.

Cheers,
Marc

I just finished putting the last coat of sealant ...

on the back porch ... or part of the back porch anyway. Most of the back porch.

Tomorrow, the front porch (and the remainder of the back porch).

OK .... so what do you all think?? Is it not the prettiest floor you ever saw???

Thank you ... thank you. In reality, Abdon, Geraldo and Miguel did the really hard work. The power washing was such a chore. And they did a great job. All I had to do was wait for it to dry and then spread the sealant all over it.

The nice thing about stained concrete is that no matter how ucky it looks, you can just tell people it's "supposed to look that way."

Oh, and at the bottom of the photo ... you can see where I stopped. A lot of the stuff that normally goes on the porch is piled up there. Tomorrow, the guys will help me move it onto the part that is now sealed, and then I will seal the rest of it.

Hey, by the time Slayda comes to visit ... this place may actually look semi-decent!!!

Very pretty floor, Ricky. Concrete isn't a floor material of choice here, probably partly because of salt, partly because the floors we live on are above the basement and would take a lot of extra support if made of concrete.

But I might consider sealing the basement floor. It does leak in rainy weather, and sealing it might help. Then again, the thought of having to move everything in the basement....

Doesn't it just make you mad when you want to say something but don't have anything to say?

That's one of the big reasons I bought this particular house. Most of the floors are concrete and at my old place (in San Diego) they were all wood. When cats puke on wood ... you panic. When cats puke on concrete, especially sealed concrete, you have a good laugh about it and clean it up when you get around to it.

The builder had put in these beautiful berber carpets upstairs, however, I had them ripped out before I even moved in. Now, they are Pergo ... also cat puke proof.

In any event .... right now, all of the outdoor stuff in piled up in the front and back yards. I just put the first coat of sealant on the front porch .... aaaaand, the rain clouds are beginning to pile up something fierce.

Well, of course!! Naturally!! Goes without saying!!

Gotta go rescue as much as I can. The frame I am building for the door chalkboard (in the office) is not yet painted, and I'd rather it not warp. Then .... shower time!! And ... possibly another shower later in the day because ... drum roll please .... I gotta go to another party tonight.

I'm about to drop dead from working out in the yard with the crew (of which only Abdon and his son showed up today).

I am leaving the doggies in the hotel one more night and sealing the rest of the concrete by their kennel tonight (I'll just walk from the party to the house and back a few times .... and if they ply me with enough alcohol, it may be a bit of a funky job of sealing ... but what the hell).

At this moment, I am leaving to drive into town and get a chocolate shake. Before I drop dead, that is. If I do not finish my shake, please toss the rest of it on my cremation pyre.

Thank you.
