Hamsters will keep you up at night running in their "squirrel cages" but that should be no problem for ZP since she stays up all night anyway - well some of the night at least.

But I still prefer rocks.

I got a hamster. It was OK. I liked it, and I got another.

They had another and another and another and another and another...

Just get one, unless you also keep snakes...

rocks it is ! (or maybe baby platypuses (platypi ?)). the LAST thing i need is more noisy creatures keeping me awake when i'm trying to sleep, sheesh.

You can use them to make a rather delicious conserve; but it does have the rather unfortunate side effect of turning your mouth an unpleasant colour. Yes, be warned, you can blue lips from hamster jam!

However, such actions are the norm among species whose function in life is to be prey for something else.

amazing. i didn't think it could be done, but i think you may have cured me of the bou!faction* where platypi are concerned. even baby platypi. although... just a *photo* couldn't hurt. do platypi make any noise at all ? i've never heard the sound of a platypus. marc ? can you enlighten us ?

now that i think about it, that might make them *excellent* neighbors, because i bet the shums would irritate the hell out of them on a regular basis. so, built in defense against future bad neighbors as well !!

Well, in that case, we've got stacks of animals we can lend you - Irukandji in the water fountains and salties on the stairs - though "cute" probably doesn't always come into it.
