I think there's an objective case showing that Macs are easier to use. (Note, I do not say "easier to learn." People learn in different ways, and what I've found is that people who learn PC programs better tend to be linear thinkers (i.e., a follows b follows c) while people who learn Mac programs better tend to leapfrog (a...f...g...oh wait, c...))

As I remarked earlier in this thread, I think, I do not regard Apple products as "intuitive" at first. I think, though, that once you start learning how to use them, they become intuitive. In essence, the user learns to speak Macintosh.

This situation has become less extreme as other interfaces adopted the Apple approach, but Apple still has a lead, and probably always will because of the integration of hardware & software in their products.

So it's not exactly "Your Mileage May Vary." It's more "Your Mileage Will Be Worse."

I do not think that anything on earth is "objectively easiest to use". Ease of use is by its very nature a subjective issue that depends on the user. If the user has to "learn" to speak Macintosh, then there is no reason why Macintosh should be considered easier than anything else that must be learned. I myself have a great deal of trouble learning C++, but I speak XSLT (which I'm told other people find difficult) like a goddess. And so forth.

I beg pardon for saying so, but your post has a strong whiff of "fanboism", especially the last line. Mileage does vary with using Apple products, else other products wouldn't have their own supporters. I find my Cowon J3 much more intuitive than my husband's Apple MP3 player. I find my Android phone more intuitive than my mother's iPhone. And so forth. MY mileage varies from yours.

I read here that Cloud Reader stores e-books as .db files, but I can't find them. Does anyone know where it's stored and whether they can be converted to formats like MOBI?

I recently bought David Byrne's How Music Works, which Amazon for some reason will not allow me to download onto my Kindle 4, but only onto my cloud reader account.

I'm using Firefox on a Win XP PC, and I'm disturbed that the book I bought is effectively a hidden file. Can anyone shed light on this?

Normally, you should be able to simply save the file within your Amazon account to PC. You can choose, which file to save. If you've got 2 Kindles for example, both have different serial numbers and so you can save 2 files. But you shouldn't need cloud reader or Kindle for PC. Simply save the file, intended for your Kindle 4, from your Amazon account to the PC and then copy it over.

There may be one problem though: Some books don't work on all Kindles. Comics for example often don't work on the Kindle readers, only on the Kindle tablets. You see this in the description of the book. This might be the explanation, why you can't download on your Kindle 4. Then of course you can't save to PC either.
But still you could save another file. Not the Kindle 4 one, but a tablet-specific one. This needs to be stripped from DRM (copy protection) then and converted to your destination.
