Hi there, I bought an E-reader (not sure of the make) and purchased e-books. I downloaded them and put them onto Adobe Digital Edditions which was all fine. I authorised my E-reader and dragged the books onto it which all worked. But when I unplug the USB and go into my E-reader, the EPUB files won't open and the symbol is a zip folder. Can anyone tell me what could be happening and if I can ever open these books?! My E-reader states that it is compatible with EPUB and all other files. Thanks.

Hi Anne, welcome to MobileRead
![]() The question is the same: which ebook reader do you have? Does it say in the specifications that it can read epub files with drm? A great deal of the cheaper tablets are not able to read drm'ed epubs. One solution might be to de-drm the files. We are not allowed to give detailed information here, use google and apprentice and alf if you want to go this way. |

From what you post your reader is not loading/decoding the e-pub an epub is a form of zipped html file... hence the zip file icon... some drm epubs are specific to a particular reader but without knowing what make your reader is it's hard to tell.... I suggest you load a non-drm epub from one of the free sites (like gutenburg) and try that.... if that doesn't work then your reader doesn't handle e-pub.. in spite of what it might say... but surely there is something on the reader itself or in the software that tells you what make/model it is ???

By the way, the best free site for download of nicely formatted eBooks is this site.
