A general caveat when dealing with Lightning Deals is to act fast, because many items sell out in a matter of seconds.
You made me laugh tubemonkey. You are fantastic.
Just when I started to think that my imagined painting of my end result was almost complete you introduce SD cards, another thing that I haven't done. And before you think that that I must have lived in a cave, I haven't. It's just that Tennis and reading and fun trumped learning all the things that everyone has so generously suggested. I may be blonde but I am a brave country girl at heart......so keep your endless knowledge of what's out there, coming.

Definitely a nix on jacks and cables... how do you copy onto the SD card. Do you use something like media player?

Thank you for inquiring, I need all the help that I can get. Catlady's suggestion was wonderful but I also need the mp3 way for when I don't have the time for burning CDs since this is something that I haven't done yet.
Well, if the car has an SD slot and a USB port, just copy the mp3 files to an SD card or a flash drive and play them that way; you don't need to use the Clip Zip at all. (Though you can still copy the same files to the Clip Zip.)

If you copy to a CD, there's no trick to it; you're using the CD as a data disc so you just drag and drop the files. But you'll be better off with an SD card or flash drive as you have so much more capacity that way.

Sounds too easy. I will first have to buy the sd card and try it. I don't mean to sound so sappy, but thank you so much.

The most straightforward device to use is a USB flash drive. Just plug it into your computer, copy the MP3 files to the drive, eject, plug it into your car stereo, and play.

Using the SD card requires your computer to have a SD card reader. Some PCs have one built-in, but you can also get a separate reader, usually a small USB device. When you plug the SD card into the reader and the reader into the PC, it works just like a USB flash drive.

Another option is to use a microSD (not miniSD) card. Your Clip Zip will take those up to 32GB. You can either use a card reader to copy MP3 files to the card like a SD card, or copy the MP3 files to the card while it's installed in the Clip Zip. To use a microSD card in your car stereo, you'll need little microSD-to-SD adapter, which is often sold packaged with microSD cards. Then just pop the microSD card out of your Clip Zip, plug it into the adapter, and then plug the adapter into your car stereo.

BTW, your Android phone may also use microSD cards.

Wait...did you say that I could also put mp3 file onto a flash drive and insert into my USB in the car? My head is spinning. But now you have given me the confidence to download the 10 mp3 books. At $4.99 each I will be set until New Years with the driving I will do. I now have so many alternatives and I am so grateful to you and everyone else. I hope when I download the audiobooks that I will be able to find them on my hard drive. But that is for another day.

I just found out about the flash drive from Catlady. Are you sure that your not related to tubemonkey? He seems to introduce new devices when I have just wrapped my head around the previous one. I haven't ever, no never, used an sd card, inserted an sd card or let alone used one with an adapter. I may have to draw the line at adapters and cables.

It's really easy to use. The card on the left is a mSD card. The one on the right is an adapter. You insert the smaller card into the bottom of the adapter. From that point on, the card works just like an SD card.

Getting mSD cards is the way to go. The smaller card fits in your Clip Zip and probably your phone. By placing it in the adapter, you can then use it in your car.

OK, no laughing..when you buy the smaller one does the bigger one come with it or do I buy them separately? And when I put it into my laptop to download mp3's I then put it in my clip zip and then it recognizes it right away? I have the clip zip and often download books from the library and through overdrive I transfer the file. So this would be different.
If it weren't for my absolute terror of being I'd include a question about sd cards and cell phones. Thanks a bunch for your BF and CM postings. I would never have had the time to find all the good stuff and the sites.

*sigh*

I had seven books in my cart a couple of hours ago, and I was going back to look over the rest of the items and see what else I wanted to add, and Tantor has cleared my cart. I don't think I have the energy to go back through hundreds of titles to find them again.

Tantor's cart can be a pain.

I leave all windows open until the order completes.

btw, the sandisk 64G USB stick is $30 all the time (amazon frust-free pkg)

I was bummed. Tried to order 4 audiobooks that day and just couldn't get it to complete because my connection was too busy.
