Dutch Dictionary not loading
The Dutch Dictionary is not loading onto my Touch.
The Desktop is attempting to get it, but the URL is returning a 404 error. |

Desktop? You want the dictionary on the desktop?
Strange though. I loaded the Dutch dictionary without any problems, but I did do it directly from my Touch with Wifi... have you tried that? (Wait, you speak Dutch?!) |

During the sync the Desktop tried to download the dictionary from Kobo's server, and failed. So it wasn't able to sync the dictionary down to the Touch. And, no, I don't speak (or read) Dutch. I was updating the Firmware Direct Links thread with the direct links to the dictionaries. And I'm reading a series of books that takes place in Europe, so having translation dictionaries is occasionally useful. |

Lol!
![]() If you can explain to me how/where I can find the URL, maybe I can find the working one? Unless of course, I'm under the impression my download was successful while it really wasn't... I wouldn't know because I haven't actually used the Dutch dictionary yet. My "manage dictionaries" does have a check mark next to the Dutch dictionary... Then again, Settings/Languages tells me there is still one dictionary in the queue and I have to sync to install... while I've synced loads of times already since I made changes to add dictionaries. Maybe the Dutch url is indeed wrong. And also, there appears to be no Eng-NL and NL-Eng dictionary. How sad. But that's off topic, sort of. |

It was discovered by monitoring the network traffic from the Desktop to Kobo's servers when attempting to download the dictionary. At this point, I don't know if there is a problem with the dictionary (hence it's unavailability), or if Kobo has just misplaced it. Or if I have the URL wrong... Your remaining dictionary to be loaded is probably the Dutch one. You can check your device's .kobo\dict directory for the dictionaries that have been loaded, and I'm willing to bet that dicthtml-nl.zip is not there. And yes, since the device doesn't even give you the opportunity to get the Dutch translation dictionaries, I'd say they weren't available. Hopefully, there's a 'yet' somewhere in there. |

So I went to check the usefulness of my NL dictionary again. Maybe I did something wrong last time, but I can easily select it from the drop down inside dictionary when reading a book... So... it works. Maybe the url worked at some point and then the file disappeared from there or something? So then I synced to see what this dictionary in the queue was... but nothing changed. It still says there's a dictionary in the queue, but all dictionaries have a check mark (or a plus sign). I hope so too! |

I've listed all the dictionaries I know about in that thread. Are any missing from your Touch? |

I realised I don't need most of those dictionaries so un-checked all but 3 dictionaries, then synced... now 3 of 15 are checked, loaded and present in the dict folder... but still it says there's one dictionary in my queue and that I should sync to load it. Oh well. |

The Dutch dictionary downloaded with 2.1.4 (back when I had that version installed). And was present during 2.1.5, until I did a factory reset a week ago.
