Back on topic! I want to vent and rant about my Grumpy Teenager!

Actually, I don't. I get a stomachache just thinking about it.

Please, continue your prior conversation.

Your revenge is that one day, they too will have grumpy teanagers.

Or put another way. Insanity is inherited. We get it from our children.

My once very grumpy teen lad is now a very well-mannered, polite, hard working young man. Our only problem, now, is his choice of girl-friend..(ouch)...

Thanks for the sympathy, everyone.

I was typing a longer note, but due to a bandage on my left pinky, I keep hitting some key or combination on that side that executes a "back" on my browser and loses my messages. Bleah.

(I nicked my finger while chopping veggies the other night. Nothing too serious, it was a sharp knife and should heal quickly.)

Still, 3am was one of the few times you could be guaranteed not to have queue for the showers.
Ah, 1st year Uni and student Halls of Res.....
Pollock's?

(sorry -- bad Edinburgh "joke").

At my Uni (down south) they had a habit of turing off the hot water overnight. Cold shower at 3am.... No thanks.

I'd developed the ability, as near as I can tell, to get up without waking up (I'm pretty certain I cycled to class whilst asleep one day). On more than one occasion when I had to get up painfully early my first conscious thought of the day was a very naught word whilst exiting the shower with extreme rapidity.

neko, sorry you nicked your finger. i hope it doesn't hurt too much, that can be quite annoying to have a cut on your finger. since your finger is possibly a bit disable i'll cross my own that your family life will return to smoother waters soon.

(i hit that "back" button often too, even without a bandage. if you figure out which button it is, please tell me, so i can try to avoid it. it's really annoying.)

my first thought of the day is always a very naughty word when i am obliged to get up early, even without a cold shower. my retroactive sympathies to you (brought to you by montsnmags chrono-arrangers, ltd.).

Which browser?

I've had that happen here, but it's not a problem: the message I was creating is still in the browser's cache. Going forward again returns to the errant page.

I'm running Firefox 3.0 under win XP Pro SP3. I've even had a breaker blow and lose power in the middle of creating a reply. When I reset the breaker and reboot, Firefox comes up telling me it terminated unexpectedly, and offers to restore the tabs that were open when it crashed. I say yes, and everything is restored, including my reply in progress. The only thing that doesn't get restored is a tab with an open GMail session. I have to log back in.

i've noticed that usually works too but i have occasionally lost a message i was writing (one of the great things about gmail ; it saves my drafts automatically for just such circumstances). also sometimes i accidently hit "post" or "send" before i'm ready, which is annoying, and i have also managed to close tabs or windows completely (god knows how, because the chances of hitting alt+F4 by accident seem frankly slim to none).

my gmail session is restored too though ; i'm always logged in at home. seems weird that it should shut you out of that, unless you programmed it not to remember you.

People fail to realize how important a keyboard can be. Your fingers get trained to a particular layout and feel, and switching to a different one causes all manner of errors.

I just switched to a Logitech USB keyboard from an older Compaq PS2 model, because the Compaq was in bad need of cleaning. The Dell has different placements for things, and I am forever hitting the Caps Lock unintentionally,
and not noticing UNTIL HALF THE LINE IS ALL CAPS. () It also rearranges Home, End, Page Up and Page Down, with equally annoying affects.

Time to switch back again...
