It's worth trying, but I'd rather save myself the hassle of trying until I've decided to stick with the PW. If I might exchange it due to a screen via BB, it's extra effort to get stuff swapped around.

Ironically though, the most annoying thing about the PW for me is not the screen, but the editor's picks that eat up half the home screen with cover view on. I'll probably just leave the store disabled until they issue that FW patch that makes them optional.

Only by word of mouth at this point from folks who have talked to CS.

It's possible that CS is confusing the Fire with the Paperwhite when being asked, but I imagine they are getting complaints/feedback about this on both products pretty consistently (including from me). I'd be kinda surprised if they didn't address it on both products fairly close to each other.

That's what I'm doing too. I make most of my purchases from the computer so it doesn't prove to be a big deal for me, but hopefully they'll change it in an update.

Went to BB tonight - they said it "looked funny on the screen" and that "They may have some but maybe not" *Sigh* They climbed the ladder and no go.

Hoping to head to another BB in town that says "in stock" online but we all know how accurate THAT is

Yes, been there done that.. BB is out of WHACK for sure.. they are in Big Trouble nation wide.. out of tune..

I feel bad for BB and any retailer that is already selling the PW, because of all the returns they'll be seeing.

I am literally sitting here watching the clock tick so that I can call the BB that says "In Stock". My toddler is still sleeping peacefully or I would be that super annoying customer there at 10:00 on the dot lol

Ummmm...how about some actual statistics to back up that statement! Oh that's right, you have no valid statistics. Just because you like your PW doesn't mean you can project your feelings onto the rest of us as though they were scientifically proven.

On the other hand, How bout YOU show some statistics that the majority are not happy? Opps thats right, you have none.

The same argument can be used against the opposite idea as well.

Although right now, if you look at the thread Dragoro pointed out, and the Amazon reviews, the response is still mostly positive. And even in Amazon's reviews, you'd have to spend some time splitting out actual manufacturing flubs from those who are disappointed based on Amazon's admittedly terrible advertising of the product.

Is it likely that there probably is a higher than normal amount of defective units? I'd say so. Is it likely that the entire production run is defective? Not really. Did Amazon do a good job setting expectations? Not at all.

Two things, I never claimed the "opposite was true" I just claimed an absolute statement without proof is total BS. And forum threads are not scientific proof, not even close.

And one more thing, since you are both acting a bit Applely, the burden of proof is not on me but on you to prove your speculative statement.
