I doubt I would take much notice of a questionable blogger giving at best 2nd hand information. He really gives very few facts. I suspect she either did do something wrong or perhaps a family member using her account did. At any rate, why in the world didn't this person pick up the telephone and call CS rather than relying on email? The whole story sounds fishy to me.

The problem is, assuiming these emails are genuine, Amazon is the one not giving facts here, not the blogger. If she did something "wrong" with her account, why are they not open about it in their answer? Would you be happy to be told you are punished, and not being told why (even if you perfectly knew you had committed some violation)? How can she defend herself then? Furthermore, this means that Amazon can unilaterally close your account and lock you out of your purchases. Can you imagine if a publisher entered your home and took all your books? |

The story is not just a blog post any longer. It's been picked up by the Consumerist. This general type of event has also been long expected.

I *think* in these cases the suggestion is that the user has previously had another account that has been banned. Amazon might not be able to prove that it is the same person, but they have used the same computer to access both accounts (though it might be that someone else in their household is at fault and they are perfectly innocent). Just exactly the same way people who are banned from forums sometimes find they can't simply re-open another forum account using another name.

There's no evidence she abused the system. There are only assumptions by those who are already invested in the Amazon ecosystem and tell themselves the company is too big to make mistakes.

The whole wiping her Kindle part I find hard to believe. The archive becomes unavailable of course but removing content I've never heard of. Last edited by Blossom; 10-22-2012 at 01:44 PM. | |

Where as your assumption that amazon must of had made a mistake and that she didnt abuses the system should go without question. I mean, amazon is a company so it must be evil, right?
