Reassigning M92 buttons

Hi,

Is it possible to reassign the next-page and previous-page square button
to "previous-view" and "next-view".
Because we already have three ways to turn pages. One is using
the black-square button, the stylus, and the trackpoint.

Modern chm and pdf books have lots of links in them and traversing the
books is becoming a pain. so instead of a single button, we'll have to click
the menu at the bottom-left, click on another tab and then click the back
button. A bit tedious if you ask me. So the functionality is there, I'm asking
if we have a way to make is more easier to access.

Thanks.

And if it is not possible to do it by reassigment of buttons, it could be implemented in Go to Page menu. It is invoked by OK button and only page number may be entered now. Adding possibility to traverse back and forth sould not be that difficult.

It is not possible to customize the buttons by user. But in the next comming version of PDF Reader we have changed the logic, how buttons and joystick have to work. Now page up/down buttons are moving the viewport to the next screen (it can be next page or just next part of the page if you are reading a multicolumn document). Stylus will be using as "hand/panning" tool, "zooming tool" or "annotation tool" depending on selected feature. Left/right buttons of joystick are using for horizontal adjustment of viewport. Up/down buttons of joystick - for stepwise +/- zooming.

The new update (version 1.8) will be available next week.

Would it be possible to implement my "solution" in future firmware?

I mean to add Prev/Next "visited page", or even better Prev/Next x-th visited page, in the dialog "Go to Page Number". The dialog is invoked by pressing 4-way button.

You could add SW buttons <3 <2 <1 1> 2> 3> below the numeric keyboard.

Or would it be possible to map long-hold of left/right 4-way button to Prev/Next position?

It would make easier to make jumps back and forth in a document. Not everyone reads a document sequentialy page after page....

I am looking forward to comming 1.8 firmware. What about language files?

If you can make a list of "option set" of which buttons should do what
and take an opinion poll on this forum,
it would benefit everybody. So you're choosing and creating a product
that is based on demand.
New buyers/users eventually come to this forum to get more information on buying the M92. If they know that there is an active community that
participates in making the product better they will feel that their investment
is more secure and meaningful. Just my opinion.

Currently we have added in PDF Reader a multifunctional status bar. There are three categories of icons, which can be displayed in status bar. In "general icons" category there is a "previous page" icon, which works to jump to previous displayed page or viewport. In main menu is additionaly previous/next page tools available. I am going also to develop something like history/chronology of visited pages to be able to go to a particular page just by clicking an entry in the history list. Not sure yet if it is really needed feature.
