It looks like they're preventing hot-linking by checking to see if the referrer is some site other than theirs, and if it is, replace the requested image with the ad. I'd say nekokami sees the correct image because it was already in her cache. You... well, if you don't have it in your cache for some reason, and aren't scrubbing referrers, then you are just magical! *abracadabra!*

For what it's worth, I'm able to get it to work correctly by opening just the image URI directly in my browser then doing a force-refresh (Ctrl-Shift-R). Now it's in my cache and I see nekokami rimshooting with vengeance, although that's obviously not a long-term fix.

i think that is the only logical conclusion. there's plenty of evidence for it elsewhere as well.

Ahhhh, okay. Go to the Mozilla Add-ons site and install the Stylish add-on.

Then go to the UserStyles site, and install the Ad-blocking FiltersetP style in Stylish.

Stylish lets you run custom CSS on arbitrary pages, sites, domains, or globally in Firefox/Thunderbird. FiltersetP is custom CSS (also used in the AdBlock Plus add-on) that defines elements that are ads and tells FF not to render them.

Then go back and have another look at the animated emoticon.

Wow .... I must say, when I saw there were 19 responses to this post, my immediate thought was "Well, you can pretty much bet they have NOTHING to do with the chalkboard door." Do I know you guys or what??

To DG: Thank you!! The red is the same color I painted the kitchen island. Most of the other cabinets are black or creamy white. I think it's going to look good when it's all done.

To nekochan: It has a usb port hidden in the chalk ledge, you goose.

It's a lovely chalkboard door .
Touches like that really add character to a home imho.

But how do you wipe it clean? (I notice there is a curtain hanging temptingly close).

Oh. <disappointed> I thought maybe it had Bluetooth....

ANYway, did you use chalkboard paint, or embed a piece of chalkboard material? Not slate, I imagine? And did you use magnetic paint for the magnetic section?

It wipes clean beautifully with just a moist cloth.

No ... it's chalkboard paint on the door with a magnetic stick-on strip around the edge (painted with the chalkboard paint to match), and then a separate recycled magnetic board mounted with 3M strips up high. (I have some magnets that I really love, but if I put them anywhere the cats can reach ... they knock them down to play with them).

And ... no bluetooth.

Ricky, we need to have some work done in our kitchen and family room, since lawyers generally charge less than painters, when will you be in the DC area?

It looks great!

I try to get to D.C. every few years. Today I took a small break from sealing the floors in order to paint the kitchen stepstool and a few of the plastic boxes (in which I keep things I wish to keep clean, dry and pee-free).

Also got a nice (red) clock for the kitchen, which is now mounted above the chalkboard.

I'm having a hell of a time getting the kitchen cabinets finished. One thing is the stripped screws (and the screw tap hasn't arrived yet), but the main problem is that Kevin (my teenage kitty) keeps trying to bite me while I'm painting. He's just playing, but it's really hard to paint while having your wrists and elbows munched on.

And ... it's 100 degrees outside yet again. I have to do a lot of the painting (the spray stuff anyway) outside because of the fumes ... and it's almost too hot to breathe.

I hear you on the magnets as cat toys.

Don't forget to breathe! Breathing is very important!

OK .... how did green and blue paints get into the mix??? I know I didn't purchase either green or blue paint.

Just black, cream, red, and a few metallics.

Today I drove by a sign that read "Huge Kids Sale".

Various thoughts ran through my head, about the pros and cons of having a Huge Kid. The cost/benefit analysis finally centered around "feed" vs. "never mowing the lawn again".
