Hang on import
I am having trouble with Calibre hanging during imports. The problem (at the moment) seems to be specific to ebooks from my Amazon Kindle/Mac reader. Calibre seems to begin the import process but nothing happens. Eventually Calibre gives a message that the process seems to have hung and do I want to quit.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, how did you solve it?

Best bet is to head over to Apprentice's Alf home and post for help there. They will want you to try adding the book via command line as opposed to calibre gui and a copy of the log file that is produced.

Remove this old plugin, restart calibre and try again. As PeterT states further questions over on Alf's.
