exactly that : ) - was wondering if I should in fact be using a different driver. (as one already works just fine for the x server...) I will go trawling for likely good output then (now at 81% charge, on USB trickle since 1AM this morning.) |

And a note for the next idiot who spends ages deciding what would be a quick way to view his hidden partitions [root@kindle /dev]# mount -o loop /dev/mmcblk0p2 /mnt/mmc [root@kindle /dev]# cd /mnt/mmc [root@kindle mmc]# ls Quote:

After much faffing. I am of the conclusion that Quote:
is at fault. as there is no dropbear there, nor any local folder for that matter. I'll have a play. add the symlink to /usr/local/bin and add in dropbear. see what happens

Some kindles were reported to delete those files after you add them, which may be your problem as well... Perhaps we could add our own startup script that adds the missing /usr/local from a hidden location, at every boot. Last edited by geekmaster; 10-14-2012 at 12:42 PM.

Do you still have that bsdiff/bspatch package built? Maybe run off a bsdiff file that people can use to bspatch that binary with. (And maybe a second one so they can un-bspatch the change when it interferes with an ota update). Last edited by knc1; 10-14-2012 at 01:17 PM.

no probs mate. it was good practice and you have more important things to do : ) all that said. still isn't fixed. see what this reboot brings about... EDIT: Well at least that is the "deletions" fixed. It's all still there now hmm. iptables? *goes digging again* nope: # Usbnet. Or just the files where not deleted from the file system. Something, somewhere, has to start the server. And doesn't the K5 use the "upstart" init system (rather than sysv5)? ssh is working in "Main" - correct? Maybe poke around in the init scripts to see if one needs to be copied and/or added to the "Diags" image. Warning: Just guessing here.

I've dug through the DIAGS startup in LOOPMOUNT/etc/upstart/diags and it looks to me like it should be called. I'll linky it in a mo. Have to add some logging or something.... |

K5 uses upstart only when booted from main, not diags. This could change with future firmware versions. Diags actually runs a monolithic startup script that has a bunch of code copied from a bunch of upstart scripts. It is interesting to read the comments in that script. |
