Which we'll probably do, anyway, just as a part of the initiation rites.

But don't worry, Marc and Adrian are always standing by.

Just so long as it doesn't hurt.

Err... Could you put those needles away. I know they are small, but... they're really far away aren't they? And they are approaching. Look; I don't like needles. Feeling faint.

<Thump. zzz... Desperately hopes to sleep through initiation.>

No, no, not at all! I mean, yeah, once I pulled a muscle in my shoulder during a windmilling swing of the bat (last ball of the over, see?), but I make sure I stretch beforehand now - never had a single pain or injury since.

Now, let's get on with this...

This is going to hurt you more than it hurts me...Oh! I see! You were talking about it hurting you. Oh, yes, absolutely! Enough pain to make your eyes explode and for assorted bodily fluids to run from every orifice of your body, from pore to pie-hole. See, that's what this drain in the floor is for. C'mon, boy, you need to start being more observant. Now, just let me give you this injection of nerve-sensitiser (and observe the way we've modified this Yabbie Pump
into syringe form. Pretty nifty, huh?)...

Cheers,
Marc

Suddenly, a praying cat disguised as a panda leaps into the room, executes some confusing martial arts maneuvers, chases her tail a couple of times, snatches the LazyScot, and leaps from the room, leaving behind the bewildered crowd and a whiff of catnip-infused chocolate.

Didn't say I was taking him out of the lounge. But I've had to deal with needles already once today, and I didn't feel like leaving him to your not-so-tender mercies.

[Harrumph!] Neko, how are we supposed to indoctrinate him without sensitising him to the Silly? Ask pshrynk! He says we have to "flood" his fears, and I can't think of a better way than to administer hypersensitivity drugs with a large and exceedingly painful injection...well, okay, I can think of better ways, but none of them are as much fun ([sigh] and I had put some hallucinogenics in the solution as well, just for the entertainment value).

Cheers,
Marc

Feh. I think being carried off by a praying cat disguised as a panda really ought to be silly enough for anyone. And that's without taking the catnip-laced chocolate into account!

Shhh! [whispering] He's always been in. It's just much more fun to watch his surrealist and existentialist attempts to get out (not to mention being able to perform all those amusing experiments on him that Geoff won't let us do to him anymore).[/whispering]

Or plain blethering. Or worse, havering...
(an English colleague of mine just found out what that word actually means. Once again, I would recommend 'A Scots Quair' by Lewis Grassic Gibbon. Or Smeddum. Then we can have a proper chinwag).

you said Gibbon !!! that's the secret word !! here comes the duck...

seriously though, what does havering mean ? i've heard it in a song, but even the context was not very helpful.

(edit : and before you ask, i *did* look it up ; there are 5 definitions, ranging from "oats" to "friend (in hebrew)" (that one struck me as odd, given i was looking in an english dictionary) to "maunder" which is probably closest to what mindy meant but still doesn't make sense in the song, if memory serves, so i'm suspecting there's actually a sixth *secret* meaning which only true scots know.)
