Where did you even get these instructions from? That was for a way outdated version, and should not be officially documented like that anywhere anymore. Just copy the file to opt/jbpatch and restart - as explained here. | |

Works better applied as inferred by the wiki. Still getting some odd "selection does nothing" anomalies, will do more digging and report. |

Cool! I'll still let the new version linger around for a while and wait for feedback from other folks who reported problems, before making it the official new version. The logic that Amazon has sitting behind these settings must have written by someone in a mental asylum, it's totally weird - loads of conversions and lookups back and forth between the 3 settings. |

Same problems with the CJK fonts that are shown when using the ;fc-cache method to add fonts. Just fyi.

Which (exact) patched font settings exhibit this behaviour? What else (exactly!) has to be done for it to appear / disappear? Also, screenshots are tremendously helpful. Don't get me wrong - I do consider your input. But I need to know these details so that I can even reproduce your problem (and then hopefully fix it)... Spoiler:

Sure, no problem - you just had to ask.. Copy some custom fonts (with the right naming scheme) in to a dir named fonts on the user partition of the Kindle (check PN for a ready to go package), enter ;fc-cache followed by enter into the KTs search bar. Wait (a few minutes) for the screen to go blank and then reload your books (congratulations, you have installed custom fonts.) Open a book and navigate to the fonts menu to see the new fonts displayed (by name) and selectable (by checkbox). Now activate the font size hack within JBPatch, configuere a custom fontsize set (f.e. beginning with 8, increments by 1 for every step), save, restart framework, go back into a book, navigate to the fonts menu, et voila: edit: PN sent, just not sure if you recieved it (javascript blocking plugins here in browser and it doesnt show up in sent items ), if you havent, please leave a short reply and I will re-send it. Just don't want to flood your inbox. Last edited by notimp; 09-27-2012 at 04:59 AM. |

Where does this method store the fonts? I just used this to get 5.40 Caecilia fonts (improved Kindle fonts) to be installed, but the original ones still remain in system image mmcblk0p1. And it seems that the 5.40 fonts are activated now as the default font, but there is no choice in the font selection for "Caecilia".
