I really liked the appropriateness of the first comment to that article:

I think the question is not "why do people hate Apple", it should be "why do people who love Apple have absolutely no tolerance for those who are a little more sceptical"?

It's well known that apple like to have "sold out" to increase the hype and have people queuing at the stores. By the way, you're still here? I'd thought you'd have set camp outside the store by now.

Apple had that AD about "can your phone do this" while showing a voice and data call simultaneously. Well, guess what? The AD on youtube is now private and you can't see it, wonder why?

Okaay. I can't believe what I just read.

It sold out over an hour beginning around 2 am. Enough people got up in the middle of the night to place their pre-order to run the stock out.

I can't decide whether that indicates a small amount of stock or a worrying number of disturbingly devoted people...

Yes, that is unfortunate. If you'd been following allowing, you'd have noticed I pointed out my consternation about this on page 3 or thereabouts.

I don't know how to explain the lack of simultaneous voice & data on CDMA models. I am more or less certain the blame lies with squarely with with non-standard North American technologies as the GSM models do not have this problem.

I do wish the phone had been sold as a single model, though. At least global 3G roaming still works without a hitch.
