I'll translate for you... Stitchawl spent some money for 2 things, a better gizmo to film video with (you know , like TV, but stuff you do yourself) and a second better gizmo so that he could see better pictures.

Orlok then got a little jealous, so he is looking for some better gizmos to do the same.

.... and before you get to thinking that we are techno wizards, I really can't do much more than plug or un-plug things. But that's about all you really need to do these days. The insides of a computer aren't a complicated as one would imagine, unless of course you are thinking in electronic terms. But if you instead think in Food Recipe terms, well... I used to use ground Chuck but I upgraded the recipe to ground Sirloin. And swapping them is no more difficult than pulling out the plug to a lamp and pluging in a new one. Really. The way the insides of computers are made, each 'thing' has its own shaped plug. You CAN'T plug it into the wrong place! You can't!
To change the video board, after unplugging the computer I removed the two screws (didn't even need a screwdriver for those) and removed the side cover. Then (using a screwdriver I remover ONE screw that held the video board in place, and pulled it out of it's socket. I pushed the new one into the socket and replaced the one screw. Put back the side cover and plugged in the computer. That's all. Maybe it took three minutes?

Changing the web camera was even less. Unplug a USB cord from the old web camera, then plug in the new one. The end.

Don't let the 'words' frighten you. It really isn't all that difficult once you actually sit down and look at what's going on inside. Sure... if you were to start soldering, measuring, programming, designing, etc., it's a different story. But for us 'end users,' it's pretty damn easy.

Last night's "intermittent showers" turned into a couple of centimeters of rain. And at least one power event that finally did in my main UPS. It was on my list to replace before the fall rainy season started anyway, since it is ~6 years old. But I was really planning on it for NEXT month, please. Sigh. Well, summer didn't start until July, I don't know why I should expect it to last into October. What a year.

Good news is, I got out the article I promised. Not quite by first thing Monday morning, but close. Very close.

Good morning, everyone! Sad memories today... Sept.11... I'll raise my cup of Yorkshire tea to the men and women who were the heroes of that day years ago. I'll walk an extra kilometer or two in their honor today. Petit dejuner (sp?) of rice and a few olives, but the tea is still big. Every day I've been walking several kilometers, and the other day I added a long steep hill to the walk. I really wish I could get this much exercise on my motorcycle. I walk slowly. My knees won't allow my old fast NYC 'goin' down the street' pace, but a couple of hours of it eats up the distance and the calories. It's amazing how just cutting back on my eating and walking a bit cuts the body weight so quickly. Of course, I've cut back from 2000k per meal to about 200k per meal. That could have something to do with it...
