Need Advice on selling my K3.

I think the time has come for me to sell my K3. I just don't know how much to ask for. So I need advice please.

It was bought 11/10 and used till the K4 came out. Has been used now and then lightly upstairs in my bedroom. It's still in very good condition. No keyboard faded or anything.

It's a K3+3G with Amazon Black Lighted Cover
SquareTrade ADH Plan (exp 12/04/12)
I paid $189 plus $69.99 for the cover.

What would be a good asking price?
I know I am not going to get what I put in it but I do want it to sell.

So Thanks guys.

Check what they go for on ebay, averaged over a number of auction closing prices. Also compare to "Buy It Now" prices. Take total "price plus shipping" into account. Remember that ebay charges a fee as well, and adjust for that.

I'd also try Amazon. I just sold my Kindle Fire [$119, I bought it refurbished for $139] and one of my HP Touchpads [$170]. I included the leather covers I bought, priced them just below the current lowest used price and both sold within an hour.

Thanks. I did look at ebay first. I asked here because I thought it be best to see what Kindle people would think is a fair price. None of the listing on ebay mentioned age of device. I do want to take that into account. I want to sell it at a fair price.

On ebay the K3+3G used seem to be going for $75 to $80.
I don't know though how old they are then there's that whole unlock stuff. Which I guess means jailbreak. It's all very confusing.

Interesting grammar in that one.

The "unlocked" kindles on ebay are the ones with no advertising. It has nothing to do with jailbreak. It has only to do with the serial number of the device and whether amazon has it recorded as a "Special Offers" serial number. I bought some of them that were "unlocked" and none of them show special offers after registering with amazon.

Of course, most (but not all) of my kindles NOW have a jailbreak installed, but none of them did when I first received them. My only SO devices were purchased directly from amazon.

Oh mine is Unlocked then? It's a normal Kindle before SOs were around. I am thinking it might be safer to put it up in the Flea Market first. I had good success last time I sold a reader on here. eBay worries me a bit, it's been years since I sold something on it.

In eBay terminology, if you do not have special offers, it is "unlocked". The eBay seller fees have probably increased significantly since you sold stuff there then. I have heard many complaints from sellers I know, about the exhorbitant eBay fees increases in recent years.

But eBay is still a good place to look for comparative pricing.

I would think $85 for the Kindle plus $25 for the cover = $110 would be a fair price. With free shipping in the US. Or $100 + buyer pays shipping. I wouldn't go lower than that, what with the 3G, the light, the warranty, and no ads. In fact that might be too low.

I would put it on the Flea Market here first. It is free, unlike eBay, and you can better negotiate via the Flea Market. I would suggest listing it as shipped CONUSA only. International shipping is a pain, depending on which country it is shipped to, and there can be hidden fees you don't learn about until you ship. I got badly burned once on shipping fees so I never ship international unless I know it is okay to ship to a certain country, like Canada. But be aware that even if you list it as ship to CONUSA only, there will be offers from eastern Europe where shipping fees can eat your profit. I think it is difficult for them to get Kindles so they will try to talk you into shipping there. I always tell them find a friend or family member in the USA to whom I can ship, or no deal--period!

Also, do NOT go through one of those international shipping companies that allow you to ship to their USA address then ship it themselves to the foreign customer. Those look very suspect from what I've seen and read.

Bottom line is this. If a person in a foreign country tries to sweet talk you into shipping international just say NO and say it firmly!

I have a lot of that "my fingers type a different word than I tell them to" going on starting about a year ago. Perhaps it is an age-related thing. Proof-reading does not help. It usually takes at least five minutes, and sometimes days, before I can see my errors, which stand out blatantly only later. So there seems to be a conspiracy between my fingers and my eyes...

I once shipped an old laptop worth MAYBE $50USD, included with clothing and supplies beeing donated to people in an Eastern European country (Belarus), and they had to pay $300USD equivalent in customs fees to get that laptop. For them, that was about 4 months of income. Sad, really...

I wonder what customs fees could be for an ereader...

I'm only 35 if so I am in serious trouble if so! I was diagnose with Pernicious Anemia which basically means low B12. I take monthly shots. This has alot to do with the brain on top of my Dyslexia. Sometimes I will just forget something I just did. My short term memory can really be an issue on some days. The shots really do help keep me sane. Low B12 long term can cause brain damage.
I also have Iron Deficiency Anemia which means I am not getting enough oxygen to my cells. So sometimes I feel like my brain has taken a vacation.

It seems to vary a lot per country. shipping fees seem to vary a lot between carriers too! I checked into shipping a dSLR to UK a few weeks ago and USPS wanted only $45 but UPS/FedEx both wanted $150+. And I think he would have gotten clobbered with import fees on his side of the Pond! Plus if you ship to some countries you have to fill out export/import forms, yuk! Basically it is not worth all the extra effort and hassle, IMO.

I think I'll ask $100 for it. I want a quick sell. I'm going to get a new K4 with some of it. I'll be getting a PW for my birthday and possibly the latest Kindle Fire non HD. The old K4 will go upstairs and I will use the new one down here where the lighting isn't so good. I will give hubby the old Kindle Fire to watch his movies on.
