You can get the wifi PW and a case for less than the 3G PW alone. I have hardly ever used the 3G on my Kindle Keyboard, so I am going wifi only this time.

I preordered a PW 3G at about 4 p.m. EDT yesterday; then cancelled it and ordered a PW Wifi at around 6 p.m.; my estimated shipping time went from 10/3 to 10/11.

I never came close to filling 4GB (except when playing with audiobooks) but I am a little concerned now that it is effectively only about 1.2GB. I don't keep most books on my Kindle once I've read them, but I have a big backlog of unread books, not sure they'll all fit. If they're in Archived Items (including personal document storage) there is no way to know which are unread. My lazy but effective 'organizing system' may no longer work.

[UPDATE] Just checked: I'll be okay with 2GB less storage, at least for now. With about 400KB to spare.

Really, how much in cost could an increase from 2GB to 4GB cost Amazon? I mean, the difference between an 8GB and 16GB AmazonBasics Flash Drive is $3.00. I just don't understand WHY I can't have it.

It probably costs them 49c.

I don't know why they couldn't keep it and hammer home the message that they don't cheap out on their customers like everybody else. It looks good on a comparison chart. Kindle: 4gb. Nook, kobo, Sony: 2gb. People may not know if they need it, but they understand 4 is bigger than 2.

But the more popular a product is, the less the producer has to worry about minority or niche concerns. Which is why TTS is gone. Amazon know they already have the better brand, ecosystem, and overall product, so they don't need additional differentiators that most don't care about.

I think since the took away the ability to have audio books on the new Kindles, they felt like they could reduce the amount of storage. Audio books take up a lot more space than regular books.

Petitions are usually a waste of time but this time...
It *would* be a good way to see how many people echo our preference.
The question is how to get the petition noticed by Kindle users.
If we could get enough endorsement, say 50K signatures, Amazon might think about putting the KPW screen into the K4.

Okay, so where are going going to set up the petition?
