I like the Text to Speech feature. I use it when I'm driving. If I don't have a podcast loaded up, I always have an e-book that I can listen to via TTS. It does take some getting used to, some people never wind up being able to tolerate it.

I'm ambivalent. I love my k3 and physical page turn buttons.

Too early to tell. The Paperwhite appears to have a layered capacitive touchscreen (rather than IR). That is the same concept that produces significantly less contrast and increased glare in some readers. I'm waiting for reviews and some hands-on reports here.

But in theory I like both the HD screen and the built in light. |

For the most part I really like the new Kindles. I never use TTS on my Kindle Keyboard so I won't miss that. However, they have cut the storage from 4GB to 2GB. But I'm stoked about the integrated light. |

The Nook Glowlight looks fine in sunlight (though the page turns get wonky from the heat)so I don't know why the kindles wouldn't look just as good or better.

The "reading time" thing is nifty but I hope it can be turned off. It would only stress me out and make me want to read faster, to "beat" it. When the GPS tells me how long it's going to take to get to my destination, it makes me speed up and try to get there faster. I don't need to feel competitive when I'm reading.

These look like really nice devices, but without support for epub they're just not that interesting. No matter how attractive the mall is down the street, I don't want to be forced to shop only there (unless, that is, I want to take some circuitous route through a shit-filled sewer to get to another store).

I like the new e-ink Kindles but probably not enough to buy a new one to supplant/supplement the one I already have. I'd also like to find out how durable the new ones are, after reading anecdotal reports of Nook GlowLights developing "hotspots" of bright light.
Haven't made up my mind about jumping into the Fire. |

I am curious how well the lighting will work, and if there will be tradeoffs. |

I love the Paperwhite. I agree with the poster that time left would probably bug me so I hope I can turn it off.
I know alot are going miss the TTS and Audio. It only has 2GB of storage so some are going to have to move their books to the Cloud. The NK4 bezel makes me want one. I don't know about the better text. I'll believe that when I see it. The more font choices are nice. I'm getting a Paperwhite for sure. Last edited by Blossom; 09-06-2012 at 06:38 PM. |
