Capacitance is what tablets use. More responsive than pressure, less likely to get spurious response like infrared. It's a plus. |

The point was that infrared does not require adding anything to/in front of the screen, the other options do.

So ... are they going to post it on amazon.com or not?
Another thing, can you actually read on it without the light on? |

Note this is designed to be used with the light on all of the time. That is why it looks 'whiter'. Perhaps with the light off, it looks no better than Pearl screen (except for better resolution).
Anyway, the lighting technology seems different than what Nook GlowLite and Kobo are using, which is probably a good thing (nano laser etc.). Capacitative touch should be more responsive, and eliminate the deep 'well' caused by the thick bezel (needed to provide space for IR beams). I'm really looking forward to getting one, never mind my KT is only 3 months old, and the fact that it will probably require a new cover... Audiobook Whispersync. Wonder if Kindle can participate in that and if it works with iOS/Android apps. Note the K4 has a faster CPU and more builtin fonts. The Fire line looks strong too, but I am getting a free iPad3 so my tablet cup is full. I guess you could argue that that is $500 saved I could spend on a Fire, but I need to think about it for awhile. Wonder if they'll be updating the original Fire software. . |

so what do you think the going rate for used KT's will be now? I'll probably sell my 4 month old KT with official cover to get the paperwhite.
