What's a fair price for a Kindle?
What would you pay $70, $50, $40, $20 max?

I've paid a lot more than your prices & been satisfied. So I would pay the $70 for a new Kindle with no qualms.

I do not need a 12th kindle for $40, but for $20 I could not avoid buying another one. Of course, if it was going to be my FIRST kindle, even $80 would be a good price (I paid that for each of my three Nook Simple Touch ebook readers).

0$. Amazon recoups its money many times over on book sales. It's a proprietary book delivery system.

Well, I thought the UK price of £89 ($140) for my Kindle 4 was reasonable, considering that the free classics I've read from project-gutenberg alone would have cost over $150 in print editions.
Having said that, I used some vouchers to bring the price down to £40 ($65) before I bought mine. |

I did end up getting my Kindle for free after a couple of offers. I do think that cheaper is better as they end up making up the cost of it anyway after you buy some books. Though a lot of people seem to get only free books, or maybe free and 99 cent books. Though just the marketing data they pick up from your reading habits is worth something.

But I'd already built up quite a collection from way back when I had a Sony 505, before I'd discovered mobileread, so that's the first one that sprang to mind. |
