So the T2 has the same Pearl screen as the T1, has the same number of extra fonts, has the same number of font sizes, has eliminated the MP3 player function, and has eliminated six of the T1's dictionaries (only 6 are being reported for the T2; my T1 has 12), and this is an improvement how?
![]() Dictionaries in the T1: New Oxford American Dictionary Oxford Dictionary of English Oxford-Hatchett French Dictionary (EN-FR) Oxford-Hatchett French Dictionary (FR-EN) Collins English-German Dictionary Collins German-English Dictionary Oxford Spanish Dictionary (EN-ES) Oxford Spanish Dictionary (ES-EN) Collins English-Italian Dictionary Collins Italian-English Dictionary Van Dale Pocketwoordenboek Engels-Nederlands Van Dale Pocketwoordenboek Nedrelands-Engels It doesn't appear that they have actually added any of the features that "readers" have been asking for - such as additional dictionaries like Latin, bringing back the alphabetical index on the right side of the screen in the library functions (present in the 350, for example), increased audiobook support (allowing the audible format) - and instead have added social media fluff. I don't know about the rest of you, but I rarely used the WiFi portion of the T1; I can't stand all the black-flashing as the pages load and reload, I find it very distracting. Not to mention that it is slow. It seems silly that Sony concentrated on that aspect of the reader, instead of improving the actual reading, search, and filing experiences. |

That said, I am kind of interested in the T1/T2. Does anyone know if USB OTG support has been added to the T1? |

For me, better contrast, longer battery life, better refresh rates and a matte finish are enough of a selling point. I can see that such incremental changes might not be enough for everyone, but they're good enough for me. And I consider myself to be one of the "readers" you're alluding to -- I'm not an audiobook-listener (and if I were, I'd use my iPhone or iPod). I like to read books. And from personal experience, the 650 and the T1 beat the Kindle hands down. I expect nothing different from the T2. |

To be honest, after having seen/used a Kindle Touch, I have to say, no thanks. The font that Amazon chose is one I don't really care for and the only way to change it (without using KF8) is to hack the device. KF8 has the line-height bug, so that's out because the spacing for the lines is just too large. So all in all, it's an unsatisfying read using a Kindle Touch.

I think that went right over your head. The only reason I replied like that was because of your reply to a similar message. You should calm down, chill, and go read a good book instead of getting annoyed at advise on what to do about spam on a forum.

On the T2, you can have it so you don't always get the flash (screen reset) on a screen update while reading. I've seen this in a video. Even with the flash, page turns are not slow.

I took my T1 to a Sony store, and in a side-by-side comparison, the T2 had a noticeably whiter, brighter display with sharper text (frankly, I was shocked by the difference). Page-turns were also faster, and you can now turn off "refresh at each page turn" to reduce the flashing. This worked surprisingly well with no ghosting at all that I could see. The new matte black finish is fabulous (something about the finish and buttons must make it hard to photograph because all the photos I've seen make it look goofy or downright awful). I also liked the new home screen and navigation, though this is a personal thing, not something that's objective or quantifiable. All I can say is, try one in a store before you decide whether or not it's an improvement. |

Does anybody know if the problem with unpredictable italic fonts on the T1 is solved on the T2, or is this too early to say?
