Victory! Having spent the last two days at work, plus both my weekend days "off" trying to get an older program configured to work with Windows 8, including a 2nd complete rebuild of Windows 8 from scratch, I finally managed to get it working! And, of course, I carefully documented the final steps and wrote them up so others won't have the same issues. I'd love to dump this program, but it's critical to managing our documents and the document library, so THAT's not on the agenda. Whew! Now, I'm going to take the rest of the day off, and wash a puppy or two, and read. Joy and bliss.

Took all afternoon, and several trips to the hardware store, but we now have filtered water! Or we will in a few hours once the system is fully pressurized.

Genmaicha with a turkey sandwich. The hubby made a couple of turkey breasts for dinner and sandwiches. Good stuff. Lucas is cuddled on my chest napping.

I am going to miss this. I know he will be in good hands at day care but they can't cuddle him the way I can.

No question where this came from! We had the worst electrical storm I've ever experienced last night! From midnight through 6am it seemed to be one lightning flash and thunder clap every few seconds! I actually got up and turned off the computers. This was the first time I've done that since moving back to Japan! Usually I just rely upon the heavy duty surge protectors. I honestly didn't think that they could take the load this time! Wow!

Good morning, all. Some "Prince of Wales" blend from Twinings in my mug on this wet morning. Still raining pretty hard but no more thunder. Felicity has even come out from where ever she was hiding all night. She disappeared with the first thunder clap around 9pm. I'm hoping that this rain came from the East. When it comes from the West, over Korea, it picks up a LOT of red dust and leaves a coating of mud all over the car and bike. A THICK coating of mud! Oh well... I guess it's time to give them a wax job anyway...

Reports still coming in of more houses lost to flooding in the city of Uji, just a few kilometers from here. You Japanese green tea drinkers probably have Ujicha on your shelves. The Uji river went above flood banks around 4am and started filling homes along the course. Quite a few deaths and injuries reported. Uji reported 10cm of rain in one hour... and it rained all night long.

There was even some flooding in my area, (but well below my place. I'm on the top of a hill here, about 100 meters,) with one reported death. That certainly was some rain last night.

I think tonight will be a good time to re-check my dive gear... put new O-rings in where new O-rings need to be, etc., etc....

I always have the feeling that Win8 is not great. I mean, for Microsoft, it's up and down: they got it right with Win98, but Win Me sucked, then XP was very good, then Vista sucked, then Win7 is right now pretty good, and then there's Win8...
