New Kindle called "Kindle X"?

Is this a hint about the rumored new Kindles?

I doubt it. Looks more like whoever made the page didn't look up the proper names for the current Kindle models.

No, they mention Kindle and Kindle Touch. I think they're assuming a new Kindle will be launched soon however since they don't know the official name they're just using "X" to indicate "something unknown". The rumors about Amazon announcing a new lineup of Kindles picked up steam last week.

I don't even think they know about a new Kindle. If you notice there is referece to the Kindle and Kindle Touch, but going through their website you can't actually buy a cover for those as they are temporarily unavailable.

My guess is it is a webpage that hasn't been update correctly, and during development a template was used saying "Kindle X" with the intention to replace 'X' with the correct name.

I doubt some small unknown manufacturer of covers know more about a new Kindle before big news sites do.

Companies frequently get specs about upcoming products, so accessories will be available upon launch. I'm sure there's some type of disclosure clause that prevents them from leaking the info. But then, mistakes happen. Make too many and you get dropped.

Kindle is a great name. Kindle X would be a marketing disaster.

But this one looks deliberate, with an email notification when released. Maybe made public a week or so early? Maybe on the planned day, after Amazon delayed?

It's not just that manufacturer either, even M-Edge, slightly better known has a "sign up to receive news about new products" section on their website. It seems like cover manufacturers are hinting something new from Amazon is coming soon, they would have some advance specs on the size at least so they could design their covers.

I believe the email notification has to do with the cover for the Touch and non-Touch Kindle. At the top right of the page it indicates that the cover is not currently available. I still think the X was just a placeholder for the correct text for the current models.

And weren't they one of the covers available at launch for the last set of Kindles?

Personally I am taking this as proof Amazon has a new DX in the tubes! A girl has hope!!
